Hi JennyjenJen, One of the problems of making your posts long is that, as you can see from the replies, fewer people bother to read your full post.
We used to use TC (myTravel) from Manchester all the time, but nowadays we will go indirect. Many, many flights from MAN to LAS take approx 17hours, rather than the 20-24 you've come across so far. Just had a quick look on Kayak and prices for Sep are around mid 600's. AA is our carrier of choice for indirect flights. Just checked, the last time we flew via JFK the flight out was 16:30 with a 2:35 layover, and 16:00 coming back with a 3:30 layover.
hotel - we used to do at least a week at the Signature each trip. It really is an excellent hotel, but it's no longer our hotel of choice. Few here would stay in the same place for 2 weeks and whereas in the past we would always book Signature and 1/2 others, now we would book elsewhere and "top-up" at Signature.
some of the prices for the Signature at the moment are too low to miss out on though.
and changing questions (Scottish Lass).....As someone else mentioned, there was an excellent deal on offer for the Mirage a couple of weeks ago (its on this thread....somewhere!).
(Has the offer definitely expired? - I looked it up for our dates when it was posted and prices were excellent.) Looks like the deal ended last week and was one of the 72hour sales that are becomming more and more popular. as others say, book something that is full refundable and keep your eyes peeled for a deal. I don't remember seeing too many deals with the mirage over the years, but after the recent one I'd expect there to be more.0 -
AprilGoing to Vegas for friends wedding in just under 2 weeks, big group of us are going and all staying at various hotels - whats the cheapest way to phone/text eachother whilst out there? as we'll need to do that to plan meeting up for dinner etc... many thanks, Nikki.
PS. whats the cheapest way to call the home (uk) too?0 -
JennyJenJen wrote: »Well I have finally been drawn from lurkerdom on this site to post to this thread! We went to Vegas at the beginning of July last year for a week (stayed at the MGM) and came away not having really enjoyed it (but with absolutely banging tans which we loved!). We definitely hadnt done enough research, I so wish I had been bright enough to find the 2010 thread beforehand.
!
just being nosey, why didnt you like it first time you went? most people either love or hate vegas.
did you have a bad experience?0 -
MarchWhen it comes to adult clubs a few mates of mine could be called experts. Saphires is the one they went to, got a limo to pick them up. One mate spent $300 just for a lap dance with one girl, another went to a private room and spent $700! There are a few up the Circus Circus end of town where in simples terms a few big guys hung you upside down by your ankles until your money is gone
Funny how these posts are all in the 3rd party?0 -
MayJen Jen -take a look at the photos of the Casears Palace pool (try google images) -I think it may be what you are looking for......and slap bang centre strip for evenings tooI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

SeptemberThanks for all of the responses so far, we have decided to go for either a direct flight or an indirect one with a day or 2 stopover on the way home (probably New York as we have friends there)
I have been doing yet more research today and Ceasars is a good option I think (and no resort fee?) the only thing that puts me off about there is what some people said about the rooms earlier in the thread, are they really that bad??
When we went last time we hadnt done nearly enough research, it was baking hot and so although we loved the days sunbathing the evenings were just so overwhelming, hot and loud. We didnt know where to eat, not really big on gambling and we were there over the 4th July weekend and a big UFC fight and everywhere was overrun with absolute idiots. Since then we have decided that we probably didnt give vegas enough of a chance and actually, for the money I dont think we could get the same weather and the same standard of hotel anywhere else, esp in september.
Thank you for all of the advice so far, much appreciated

Crikey, that is soooooo open to misinterpretation:rotfl:ha ha, strip clubs really are not my thing i can think of better things to spend 700 dollars on like black 17!The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
MayJen The comments about Casears refer to the classic rooms -personally I wouldn't risk booking them and trying the $20 trick (although it generally works well at CP)but instead would book a better grade, Either Forum , Palace (probably best for you as has pool access from the rooms without traipsing through the casino or other areas) or Augustus towers.
Oh and yes-no resort fee at CP ...or any of the other Harrahs hotelsI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
