The pool is on the Bally's Avenue Shops level...you can see the escalator marked 'to casino' and that is the escalator near The Sidewalk Cafe and Indigo Lounge...you can take the lift to that level from the North Tower as well...from the South Tower as far as I know you have to walk through through the whole casino. You can also see the sportsbook and to the left the exit to Flamingo.

Edited to add: about the pool, we like it...but when we go to the pool we like to swim and since it's one of the only pools in Vegas with a proper deep end, we like it...also handy that you can keep track of time (if you want to) by counting monorail trains going by.

First time in Vegas. Looking to stay 5-8 Aug at Mirage and 8-11 Aug at Cosmopolitan. When would be the best time to book prices at the moment haven't dropped. Do these hotels have many promotion codes/deals haven't found many compared to other hotels.

The Mirage occasionally has offers, but I never find them that great, at least not good enough to book when you take their resort fee into account.

The Cosmopolitan has managed to survived since opening without offering any discounts on the basic room rates. However you will find better prices than going direct on https://www.ba.com , https://www.quickrooms.com and https://www.lowcostusa.co.uk However none of these is fully refundable as it would be booking direct so check the cancellation policy. I believe https://www.booking.com has the same cancellation policy as the hotel, ie fully refundable, but their rates were high last time I checked.

what sort of prices of are you finding for other hotels ? . does it have to be Mirage and Cosmopolitan ? .

like flights there is no pearl of wisdom as to when is best time to book to get the best price . a big boxing match might get scheduled for your dates and prices might shoot up , or you might have picked a quite week and they will start discounting nearer the time . having a fall back booking and regular searches up to when you cannot cancel a booking is the best idea IMO .

seeing as you are first time visitor i would consider other hotels .restricting your choices restricts your ability to save money

source a good deal now , book it up and assuming it is 100% refundable , cancel when a better deal comes along ( which maybe for your original choices )

post up some prices for your dates ,and we will give you our opinion

Hi All,

Im in vegas atm, and its great. Only problem is I needed to call Halifax so used the hotel phone.
I assumed it would be $0.50 - $1 per min, as it was in our hotel in NYC. But looked later on at the room tarriff and it cost me about $200!!!!:mad:

I had to call twice as the first disconnected, total of about 7 mins on the phone I would say.

Is there anything I could do about these ridiculous prices?

Thanks for the advice. It is our 25th Wedding Anniversary and thought the cosmo would be a bit more special. Mirage was recommended to us but not got any preference.
Low cost USA Cosmo = £347 (one bedroom) and Mirage £323
Hotel themselves Cosmo£345 and mirage £311
I was a bit suprised not much difference. Will hang of and keep checking this site, great trip reports etc and advice. Can't wait!!:j

buy a $10 phone card (in a CVS/Walgreens, not in a hotel) with a toll free number that you can call from the room - most hotels include toll free in the resort tax. prob not more than 10c a minute.
