That is so funny. Bet that wouldnt have gone down to well on a busy table elsewhere, I have been the only one playing roullette and blackjack in Ellis Island, the tables have never been busy when Ive been there.
In all the years I have been going to Vegas, I still havent tried Craps, all the whooping and hollering scares me.
After the craps debacle we went to the roulette table, just me and doris playing, and luckily this time she had enough hand/eye co-ordination to place her chips on the correct numbers without causing too much disruption. It was almost embarrassing as near enough every spin we'd hit a number. Walked off there with a tidy sum after just 10 minutes play. Dealer was quite happy to with a couple of dollars every spin.
That's something else we found at ellis island, everyone who works there is very chatty, friendly and is always a pleasure to talk to.0 -
MayIt sometimes pays to book early rather than waiting for offers.
I booked the MGM back in October to stay in May at a total of $328 for 4 nights. Those 4 nights are now $785 due to the fight being announced and the night of the fight is $350.0 -

Shame we dont have the "tip" culture here in the UK.
Might have to visit Ellis Island, been vegas plenty of times and out there again later this year0 -
AugustWe went to Ellis island and had the steak special when it was $6.95, really good value. Wasn't sure what to expect but it is certainly different from the big fancy strip casinos. We only played the slots and after sampling the home brews and moving on to cocktails it was a great but blurry night!
Will be going back with MRB voucher for BBQ, like others trying to decide what time to go ( 6 of us). Don't mind the wait as also got drink vouchers!
Only 5 days to go!:j
Ferf , I believe you're the Ballys expert. After a few booking changes we are staying in Ballys. We usually like PH (resort room) but too expensive for our week. How successful is $20 trick there? Do you recommend NT over ST? Thanks x0 -
AprilOff tomorrow night! Can't wait!
Got a night flight over the hoover dam booked for Tuesday (thanks to Groupon!) plus shooting on the range at Discount Firearms Inc on Wednesday, then my wedding Thursday!

I always hoped that one day I would be considered an expert about something.I think mooky is also a Bally's fan so she'll have some thoughts too.
Unless a good view is of major importance to you, I would go NT if you can - even in the ST not all the rooms have great views, though some are fantastic...I have read that there are some refurbished rooms in the ST, but all of the NT has been redone - though it's been several years now and the NT rooms are starting to show some wear too...we found the $20 trick to be quite successful here.
I rembember Luci got upgraded to a suite in the ST - but can't remember if that was a $20 trick upgrade or just for asking nicely.
The NT is farther away from the main valet/taxi entrance, but closer to the pool...if going to EI from Bally's, we like to go down toward the pool, past the shops, etc. and go out the door near the sportsbook and onto Flamingo that way.
Bally's isn't an exicting place - it won't have a vibe anything like the one at PH so you might find it a bit boring...but we like the rooms there, they're quite big - but they won't be as nice as the PH resort rooms. Bathrooms are much smaller, though rooms are still good size.
And it can seem to take forever to get into Bally's from the strip with the moving walkways...it is set much farther back than others - but we're used to it. Sometimes if we're walking back from being more north strip, rather than going up the pedestrian bridge and over, we'll walk east on Flamingo and cross at the crossing that's right in line with the main entrance.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Anyone any decent Priceline Vegas successes to share?illegitimi non carborundum0

MayWe've stayed at Bally's twice. The first time we were offered an upgrade to a junior suite for an extra $25 a night which we took. It was in the South Tower and had a great view south of the strip and we could see the fountains. The room was enormous and you could have fitted another 6 king size beds into the empty floor space. There was a sunken bath a couple of steps up from the bedroom, twin sinks, toilet, separate shower and bidet. The room was old, but in reasonable condition.
The second time we had a room in the North Tower which is supposed to be refurbished, but we didn't feel it was much better than the room we had in the ST.
The only think stopping us going back to Bally's is that the pool is a good 10-15 mins hike from the room.0 -

Thank you, very good advice, will try politely plus tip for NT. We do gamble in Ballys and really enjoy the atmosphere in there, know its older in style (and CWs!) and like it when the band is on. We go between PH, Paris and Ballys so seem to walk through Paris rather than front entrance.
We're not expecting too much from the rooms but will miss the bath in PH! It gets poor reviews on TA but never take them too seriously and its not like we haven't been in Ballys before just not seen the rooms.
Thanks again x0 -

Thank you, might go for the suite if offered but like most people we don't spend a huge amount of time in the room, so will see whats on offer (or free, fingers crossed!) when we get there.
We stayed in Paris and the pool closed one afternoon due to an unfortunate incident, nobody was injured but a certain person (really hope it was a child) didn't make it to the bathroom in time! We were offered Ballys pool instead but didnt bother just got changed and went to the casino. Didnt actually know where Ballys pool was just presumed it was on one of the higher levels like Paris or PH.
Might not bother with pool anyway, 3 of our party won't be going so will just probably stay with them and GAMBLE!!!!:T0
