Myself and DH went there last time we were in Vegas. The place fasinated me because I couldn't get over the amount of hunting stuff you could buy (the stuff you could buy just for kids was a little unnerving :eek:). It reminded me a bit of South Park's Jimbo and Ned tbh. I got my brother some fishing membrobilia from there that he loves. I didn't see the "mermaid" bit though, so may have to do a return trip.
It's an amazing place, you could easily spend a day in the Bass Pro shop alone, looking at all the different sections

Thanks, yes thats the one but it looks like its in a different place to when I last saw it (last year) as when standing on the stairs it looked like it would smother you as it was very close

Forbet all that my son says it is the same one and in the same place ( i am getting old and forgetful)

I also think it is facinating.

As for the mermaid, she is only in the tank at certain times of the day

interesting - we didn't go into the Bass Pro Shop the one time we went to Silverton - may have to check it out.

We did like the buffet - thought it was great.

And while I'm thinking of it - we tried the Orleans buffet for our first time this trip - for lunch...it was excellent. More "basic" food than many, but very very good. And they had ribs. I thought of Stuie.

We like the Orleans buffet for lunch too. Good solid value for money. It's even better on Tuesdays when it's 2 for 1 for anyone over 50 with a Club Coast card.

Was looking forward to my half price buffet when I went last time, had my club coast card (bconnected now I think) stamped with my over 50s sticker was all excited as it was only a couple of days after my 50th, BUT I went on the wrong day , I went on wednesday so I was a day late !!

I think even without the discount the Orleans buffet is one of the best value deals in town-and unlike a lot of the off-strip properties -easy (and free) to get to from the Strip without a car.

Love the Orleans buffet always make a trip out there as others have said free shuttle makes it nice and easy to get to

Their casino is pretty good too-and unlike certain strip casinos CWs aren't a nearly extinct species
