i aint worried ! :) i'll be OK when it comes to cars, always have been :)
I was just stating how it works when it comes to contracts.... Lets pretend i dont use the internet, therefore i dont read the terms, i only hear what i am told, and see what i am sent..... so making my booking with netflights, i am told that Dollar do Mustangs so i can book that car, which i did... and then confirmation, receipt and voucher comes through the post clearly stating Mustang, no reference to 'similar'.... so therefore, i am none the wiser.. i expect to get my Mustang.

Everyone uses clauses to get them out of trouble when they cant provide, etc etc, but if one fails to notify the customer of those clauses, then how is the customer to know the difference ??

I got out of my Excalibur contract using that terminology :)

I guess if they have run out when you arrive you could probably go back and switch it the next day -although I'd suggest honey rather than a tantrum if you choose to go that route :D

And yes they won't have a clue who Netlights are and will care less

(Speaking of which -Why do we over here say "I couldn't care less" yet Americans say "I could care less" meaning the same thing ?????)

Sorry to break it to you StuieUK34, but, the terms you agreed to when hiring through Netflights probably state (if via. Dollar - not sure if it differs for different providers... probably):

    see here:
    http://ui.netflights.com/CarTerms/Terms.ashx?depot=LAST01&provider=DU

that would apply, if as indicated by someone else earlier that if the Mustang convertible is deemed to be a different class to other convertibles, then if its gone, its gone!

not to worry though, I suspect you should be ok if picking up from airport - loads of people here have said there's usually plenty of mustang convertibles at that location :)

I have never seen any Mustangs at Dollar when we wanted one, always Sebrings or once got a Mitsubishi Spider, now there was a car!!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

i would'nt really throw a tantrum! that gets you nowhere!!
I been in the same situation when i had a car with Alamo several years ago, and was picking it up from Jupiter (Palm beach way, florida... Not the Planet!! :D )......
Nice words and calm sounding made her look at other stuff, and give me the option to drive a few miles away to another depot to get the car i wanted (i wanted the pontiac grand prix GT), and all was good :)

Not quite the same though is it. You have ticked the box to say that you have agreed to their terms, and one of the terms is that they can substitute a car if the one you have specified is not available.
I don't know what you are trying to prove. You know full well that they are entitled to change the car as others on here have stated, as well as Netflights own website, but you are playing dumb so that you can come up with some reason to look for compensation when the inevitable happens.

    eh ??
I aint ticked any boxes (plus i phoned my order through anyway), and more to the point, this is just talk/discussion, etc.... The likely hood of me not getting what i want is unlikely, i will get the cars i paid for, and if i dont, i will get somthing better (big SUV).......
and theres no such thing as playing dumb, i'm a consumer...
Next time you book a direct flight with an agent/tour operator and then get told your still going, just indirect or landing somewhere first, lets see how u would play things out ?

Whole idea of forums is to discuss things, based on if or when or what you would do, etc etc, open speech..
And my original question was "can i pick my own car at LAS", god knows how this thread got altered into a debate!
  • Hi there. I have spent the last month or so reading through the loooooong 2010 thread and through this one.

My fiance and me are heading to Vegas at the end of Sept to get married and then take off on a road trip around CA.

We have seen an offer for 6 nights in the Cosmo inc breakfast each day for £650. We are about ready to pull the trigger and book but wanted to check to see if you guys think this is a good deal?

The deal is through a broker and is coming up quite a bit cheaper than booking direct through the Hotel. The booking is also cancellable.

Ever since Bullitt I've been a fan of the Mustang, they look better than they actually are to drive. I'm afraid they are typical US fodder and unless you go top end they are not even described as a muscle car, I've had more fun in a charger although the new camarro appeals (a la Hawaii 5-0).

I fly into SFO 2 weeks today and will be picking up a BFO 4x4. Not vanity but needed. The first part of my trip up and around lake Tahoe the weather is usual, currently temperatures ranging between -1c and -11c with some 2-4 feet of snow by Friday. Don't think I'll need a convertible, especially in my shorts and t-shirt.

Went through a couple of stat sites for that area, no rain so far this year, average annual snowfall for the Sierras an unbelievable 86 feet. I'm looking at the rental extras don't need sat-nav, RADAR might be good as would a snow plow attachment.

Thanks for the very quick reply!

I have looked on their website and the same room is available for the same price (£3 cheaper actually) but doesnt have the added bonus of breakfast included each day.
