January / FebruaryI got back from Vegas a few weeks ago and we did the London Gatwick - Vegas direct flight with Virgin. We booked with Virgin as we didn't want to be affected by BA strikes. I am not a fussy traveller in the slightest, never have been never will be. All I will say is that the poor customer service and uncomfortable seats are worth bearing in mind. We didn't have any rowdy groups on our plane either.
I didn't get any sleep on the way there because of the seats and I had to serve myself drinks after a while as the hostesses were nowhere to be seen for half the flight. If you aren't a fussy traveller then the Virgin flight is absolutely fine.0 -
SeptemberIve flown Virgin to Las Vegas several times and never had a problem apart from the drinks running out.
We went indirect once and i wouldnt do it again.
Im booked with Virgin again this year and will no doubt book next year as well.0 -
JuneAnyone recommend a good golf course within a cab ride from the strip?
Played the Las Vegas National last time but would like to try somewhere else.

OctoberANyone done the Heathrow to Vegas Flight with American Airlines ???
Am looking to book my mum and her mate to meet me in Vegas, best option i can see at the mo is flying with American Airlines via Chicago....
Looking at depart: 07:45 to chicago for 10:15, then onto Vegas at 12:20.......
Will be 2hrs 5 mins before enough doing the connecting flight? Easy process ?
Planes comfy and entertainment onboard ? decent food ?
Edit, noticed that Duchy already mentioned the pizza!!The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

JuneThe municipal course on Washington is fair enough and cheap. There always seems to be some sort of deal on there like breakfast golf and cart for $45 or so. We play at Angel Park, if you have enough players they will pick you up from the hotel for free, and if you show them your flight tickets they will loan you a set of clubs, usually $50
angel park sounds good, we should have about 8 to 12. I guessing that would be enough for a pickup?

don't forget to check the website to see what maintenance is planned at each course during your trip. you don't want to find out you are playing on hollow tinned greens!0 -
MarchAA pizza is probably the biggest highlight of economy airline food for us. It's the least in-edible, at least.
I know Luci's said before and I agree, they always seem to be feeding or watering us on the transatlantic flight on AA.
I also like how efficient they are in clearing the trays after meal service, on Virgin I swear we have sat with the remains of our meal in front of us for well over an hour after everyone was done. And AA seem to be much better about coordinating the drinks with the meals...these are little things, but they make it a nicer experience we think.
I never book less than a 3-hour connection but ya'll know by now that I have intense connection missing paranoia.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I've done this flight several times and its fine. I prefer this or the United flight via Chicago around the same time of morning. 2 hours has always been fine for the connection in Chicago, I once did it in 40 minutes (involved running though!).
The seats are fine, entertainment isn't great but its not bad either. Can't comment on the food as I don't really eat on planes (one plastic box of reheated food is pretty similar to another) but they do come round often with soft drinks.
A bonus with this flight is that it arrives in Vegas before the Virgin flight anyway so you have more time there (it also gives you time for a few hours in the pool to relax when you arrive).0 -

I sent hubby with our trays to where they were hiding in the galley as I wasn't prepared to put up with that.0
