The problem with Peggy Sues is that it is only about 1.5 hours into the journey from L.A. so you really need to miss breakfast and go there hungry.

Agreed, we did it the other way though so we were hungry and not forgetting if you get there lunch time you may have to wait a while

am happy to tip like that, as am guessing if were playing games in the casino for 2 hours, and bought drinks, it would cost alot more than that ? (am assuming you pay at the bar?)....
So if i tipped a waitress $3 each time for 2 drinks, she would pop by every 15 mins hopefully ? :):):)

yep the more you tip and friendlier you are can only increase your chances
my sister seemed to know all the watressess on first name terms by our second night there and her glass was never empty

I agree but I have sat at a roullette table for a few hours and my glass was never empty, she didnt even ask, just kept bringing me refills of Vodka/coke at $1 a time

On the flip side try not tipping at all and see where that gets you

@jammerr i agree with froggitt, i'd definitely look at spending a little extra on getting a nice room/hotel. i know you'll be out and about a lot of the time, but it really does make a difference coming back to a 'nice' place.

i don't know what the issue with Virgin is? have people had really bad experience? we (me and the OH) flew economy with them (our first and only time to LV... so far :D) in September and thought they were really good. I'm 6'2" so leg room is an issue on the local bus, let alone a plane! but I didn't find it obviously uncomfortable and the cabin staff were great.

coming back, the service didn't feel as great, but that might be a ploy as they want to try and encourage you to sleep! (depending on the time of your flight obviously!)

but i'm going for the holiday at the end of flight, not the flight! i think sometimes people can be a bit too fussy :)

but it's definitely worth flying direct, I think i'd rather pay extra and get straight there rather than messing around.

Despite the rubbish seats and stag groups, I would still fly VS than indirect for the same price.

    100% agree
if you're flying from LGW, and depending on the time you're flying, I can highly recommend staying at the Hilton at Gatwick. I know it might sound extravagant, but you can book longstay car-parking with them too.

we flew at about 11am, so stayed there the night before, used the VA twilight check-in the night before, so the whole airport process was really relaxed and hassle-free.

just checked and a 9day parking pass and night's stay is £159.

We stayed Park Inn at Gatwick....about £70 on a lm.com secret deal, and it included parking for the week. Didnt need twilight checkin as I cashed in 100,000 points for an UC ticket :)

The CW we were speaking to said you wouldn't believe how often that happens, and it's usually Americans. The problem they have is that every time they fetch you a drink it is assumed for tax that they get tipped, so if you stiff them it costs them money. She said she got audited one night, had an IRS person follow her around and every time she took an order she had to put her hand up in the air.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

But in terms of being noticed, etc etc, if me and the missis sit down on 2 slot machines for a couple of hours, how do the casino know were playing ? do you enter your player card number in a machine first or somthing ???
(reading peeps posts, am hoping i can get some of this comp stuff, or even offered a bigger room if i spend enough... limiting myself to $150 per day gambling)

You won't get any room comps as you have booked through a 3rd party...you may earn some comps to use toward food, etc.

As has been mentioned, Flamingo is a stand-alone property so only your play there will count. At other properties, you may earn some comps you could use toward food, etc...just depends which ones and how they work.

Always worth putting your card in the machine if you are going to play, but never expect anything for it...that way you will not be disappointed.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
