am happy to tip like that, as am guessing if were playing games in the casino for 2 hours, and bought drinks, it would cost alot more than that ?

Last two times we bought drinks (other than at Bill's) - $9 amaretto sour at Excalibur, $6 tiny Diet Coke at Bally's...so yes. But I rarely bother ordering drinks at the slots as too many times I have, and ended up waiting for ages to get them...and lost more than I wanted to on that machine...I prefer to move around a lot...but that's just me, and I am not really a big drinker. Occasionally if I feel I can trust myself to play slowly I will.

Some good information from a Vegas cocktail waitress here.

I love Dollie's website but I haven't met her...I've wondered how she would be about random strangers approaching her so not sure if I would say anything if I saw her? She does seem like a really great person - I love her sense of humour.

hi all, girlfriend and myself are booking our flights to vegas tomorrow when she finds out what days she can get off work.
we're on abit of a budget, so we're going next month, have found direct flights for £517 w/ virgin. i know their flights aren't great but she doesn't fancy going in-direct and reviews didn't rate delta/klm that good either.
as its our first time, we want to do the strip. best deal i've found so far is the tropicana, the new rooms like nice enough and TA reviews have been good. won't know for sure anyway till the dates get confirmed.

was looking for vouchers for stripburger but they've all gone :(
what other deals should i be looking out for? i need more good cheap places to eat. we'll be doing a nice buffet and a nice meal maybe up the effiel tour but for the most part we can't go silly on meals as we want to visit the grand canyon and do the red rock on scooters.

please also recommend me some shows and how to get the best ticket prices for them.
can't say how invaluable this site has been in helping me - much better than trip advisor. i've got the bug and i haven't even booked yet!!

despite what i think about the flight. £517 direct in current climate is a good fare ;). you have already made your own case for choosing Virgin , so hope everything is good for you if you go with them

no harm in booking the Tropicanna if it's refundable , you can then see what's about and what's your budget is nearer the time . $ may drop like a stone between now and then .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

You won't get any room comps as you have booked through a 3rd party...you may earn some comps to use toward food, etc.

As has been mentioned, Flamingo is a stand-alone property so only your play there will count. At other properties, you may earn some comps you could use toward food, etc...just depends which ones and how they work.

Always worth putting your card in the machine if you are going to play, but never expect anything for it...that way you will not be disappointed.

Flamingo is a total rewards card property
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I don't believe it's been mentioned on here, but i've just read ( http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/news/2011/feb/02/nickel-dimed/ ) that the MGM Grand are now charging $20 to guarantee a non-smoking room, (on top of a $20 resort fee)

It's getting crazy there now IMO.

This trip, we've got booked Planet Ho, Platinum and Caesars Palace (all close admittedly, but all great deals and exactly what we were looking for) so no resorts fee's at all for us, let alone stupid guarantee's about whether my bedding stinks or not :D

(this link made me laugh by the way - especially the Harrahs story!! - the language is a bit strong in the article though so didn't want it as the main link: http://www.vegastripping.com/news/news.php?news_id=3840 )
  • I've only been once before in May 2010, and stayed at the MGM Grand. Part of our room promotion was that me and my friend each got $25 of free pool credit to use each day, so we just ate our lunch and dinner there every day as we were on a very tight budget.

But now when I go in June, we don't have any free meals, so will obviously be eating at a wider variety of places...but still on a tight budget. What can be recommended? What's this Stripburger thing I've heard about?
