FYI they are battery powered.......and no Im not joking. The gondo steps on a "throttle".
And of course they run on rails as well, so all that "steering" is just for show. A little info about the "canal". It was one of the reasons that the hotel was a week late opening, which meant Mr. Adelson having to cancel all the bookings for that week and find alternative hotels for the 3,000+ guests that were already booked in. Anyway, they sprayed the concrete to give the water it's colour (the water is clear, it's the lining that is tinted) then filled the canal, but the colour was not as dirty as in Venice, so he made them empty the lot, respray it, and fill it again. Took about a week to do.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Thanks, this is my specialist subject. I did a lot of the stone cobbles in the walkways of the shoppes during the build. Bovis were the main contractors. Adelson was a complete nightmare, he checked everything out himself. One of the huge murals on the walls in the casino had to be completely painted over and redone which took about a month in total. He insisted that the artists had painted the shadows out of perspective/proportion/wrong direction, one of those, and made them do it all again. He also didn't think that some of the light painted in the windows at St. Marks Square looked right, so he flew to Venice took pictures of them, came back and said something like "there you go, that's the colour I want it"

  • I've only been once but I spent my time playing live poker at the MGM Grand, and a little bit of Blackjack. Never got round to getting a Players Card. Maybe I will this time, although from what I read above it doesn't seem worth it if you play at the tables.

Just ordered my MRB for our next trip. $43 to have it delivered, ($6 more) but I like to have it with me when I arrive.

This trip seems to be taking forever to come around.

Oddly, ours was only $40.50 to have it delivered - just ordered it after deciding that we're with you and don't want to have to pick it up...we went with the online membership. I even went back and checked that I hadn't selected the wrong option...very strange.

It shows $40.50 using the membership renewal link, and $43 using the normal online international mail link

ah - OK, maybe that was it...I did go via the membership renewal link. Thanks! I was starting to think I was going a bit mad.
