Same goes for Poker. The difference is that poker, blackjack, craps, roulette all have overheads in terms of wages/dealers, whereas slots dont. Therefore they are happier to give a percentage of their say 2% take on slots, whereas not happy to do so on the table games eg from their 2% house margin on blackjack.

Stoneman, my experiences are similar and I certainly don't show as a blip on the pit boss's radar with my table play. One of the boys who travels quite a lot with us certainly is on their radar as a serious BJ player, withing 20 minutes of sitting down he will usually have been approached by a pit boss and the usual friendly questions, on holiday, enjoying your trip, how long are you in town, where you staying. Let them know if he needs anything, use of a room to freshen up or stay to avoid having to travel back to his hotel, enjoy complimentray top shelf drinks etc. All the while watching his stack of chips. He plays a progressive strategy as such his average play must be approaching twice his starting stakes ($25 a hand), he has it down by rote seemingly drunk or not.

The closest I've been was when staying in the Strat and after having played the poker machines over 3 days very successfully and was up a few thousand dollars on 25c bonus poker (2 royals will do that sort of thing), I played in the high limit area off and on for the rest of the week I was there, my play was flagged and I had a personal introduction by the casino host. Before I left I sat down with him and asked to see my play as I know they can do it. He made no secret and showed me that even though I didn't spend huge amounts of time there I had put some $30k coin in. That surprised me somewhat, that trip paid for my next 2 trips to Vegas and it was one of those magic moments having to declare my currency on leaving. Fortunately I have an ITIN number which also wound up customs.

My best week for sure, my best session was 18 months ago in the GN, come down earlyish one morning to grab a Starbucks and as you do sat down at a bank of bonus poker machines (5) next to the high stakes area. put $100 in the first machine and 20 minutes later got up from the 5th some $1,600 dollars better off, I hadn't even finished my coffee.

I mostly play poker which with a few exceptions don't give good comps as the poker room is not earning the casinos the same revenue as the machines or table games per sq foot.

None of this is of course a recommendation to gamble and every dollar into a machine has a health warning.

Just ordered my MRB for our next trip. $43 to have it delivered, ($6 more) but I like to have it with me when I arrive.

This trip seems to be taking forever to come around.

    What's MRB please?:o

Is it similar to The Entertainer Book for Dubai - full of 2-4-1s, money off coupons and offers?
  • Hi folks,

We're going to Vegas in April and have already reserved a standard (deluxe) room at flamingo using friends and family rate but have just seen the new deal for an upgrade to GO room. Wondering can i email someone at the hotel to change it to this new deal rate or am i better off cancelling my existing reservation and rebooking? Just want to be sure there aren't any problems getting deposit back etc. Maybe someone has an email address of someone at the hotel they have dealt with before??

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

It's the Member Rewards Book from the Las Vegas Advisor. It has a lot of coupons for food, rooms and various other things.

Here is a link to the coupon list.

We usually get our money's worth out of it. It's better value for us than the American Casino Guide (ACG) but we usually get one of those too. We do spend a lot of time in Las Vegas though.

    Hope that helps.

We have been going to Vegas now best part of 20 years.

My 1st visit was in 1979, it was a good job we were fresh married and in love (still?), the challenge was I went on my own for 6 weeks. Mind you I was only in Vegas for a week of that.

I can also remember that I had a visa in my passport at the time that was valid for 10 years (transferable to a new passport) with multiple visits but for no longer than 6 months at a time! those were the days.

Forget emailing, give them a ring, dont forget to use the http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/ and calls are from half a penny a minute.

They will tell you right away if you can change it withouit cancelling and if you can they will amend it and prob use your original deposit.

If they cant do it over the phone then just cancel your original booking and rebook. There wont be any problems with getting your deposit back, you are not dealing with a back street hotel
