I am struggling girls. I am doing Cambridge and am struggling with the mental wants of not being able to have any food at all. The scales say I have lost 5.2lbs this week. I was hoping for more.

My friend wants me to joing WW with her. But my biggest problem for leaving is the fact I know my husband will take the pi$$ out of me for giving in. My 8yr old daughter on the other hand hates this diet and wants her Mommy back at the dinner table.!

If you are struggling with Cambridge and so is your DD, then perhaps you should join WW with your friend. You will be able to spur each other on. I don't see why your hubby should take the P out of you for giving in, if you are not actually giving in, but just saying that you think another weight loss method will be better for you. Surely, it will be better for him if you are not so grumpy.

    Good Morning
Had slip last night, drunk over a half bottle of wine and eat two chocolate bars - lack of sleep and very stressfull couple of days to blame.

I think that seems to be the good thing with the way WW works now. In addition to your daily allowance of points, you also get a weekly allowance of points, which some have dubbed their wine allowance, so that you can have a splurge on wine or chocolate once a week, if you keep to your daily allowance the rest of the time.

Marg - did you read the instructions on your calculator properly or just work it out as you went along like I did?

I say this because I've just read mine (I don't do instructions) and I've realised that if you work out the points for 100g of food and you want 200g, instead of doubling up in you head first, you can times (x) it by 2. This will give a more accurate result.

The old calculators never had this function, which is why I only just found out.

Similarly, if you only want a quarter of the 100g written on the packet you can divide by 4, or half divide by 2. It's so handy - I love it. Genious

  • Hi Again,

I had a good think about my life last night and have decided that a lot of my problems stem from me being over weight.

    ## my lack of confidence - I can't even go anywhere new, just in case the seating is too small.
    ## various health problems that my weight is either the cause of or it is making worse
    ## no social life and very few friends - fortunately the friends I have are very supportive as is my family.
    ## the house is a 'tip' because I am often too shattered at the end of the day to clean.

I have decided to think about what I have going for me

    ## great family and hubby, a job where people accept me as I am.

I have decided that I will try to exercise every day - as you can imagine I won't be capable of doing a lot to start with but I will try to do 5 mins a day on the exersise bike and try to walk for 10 mins in my lunch time at work. Iwill be doing this for the next couple of weeks and then i will re assess.

My biggest hurdle at the minute is that I still have lots of xmas goodies left. I have however just done an online shop and ordered lots of healthy foods.

I am feeling very optermistic that I will do this - I don't have a choice my quality of live is very low I need to get out of this rut.

    Onwards and upwards

Well done Dee - it takes a lot to come to a decision like that. If you can (is OH supporting you?) can you get rid of the junk food? It'll be like starting afresh, if all the goodies are still there they will be tempting you when you're at a low ebb.

The 10 minute walk in your lunchbreak is a great idea. Use the stairs instead of a lift. When you're standing there (at home) waiting for the kettle to boil ( or whatever) do some twists or bends/squats. Little and often is the key.

Dee Well done you for making your decisions, that's the hardest part. I think we all whine about being overweight and all the things we can / can't do but it's deciding to do something about it so :T:T:T Just remember every little bit helps and 10 minutes of walking is better than sitting doing nothing so it all counts - you'll get there
  • :hello:

what a fantastic loss lengendmum - wow

Kyi - i think your are probably doing the right thing by drawing a line under last night and starting afresh today - good luck

witchwoopiggy - you've made good progress too. I get on the scales but haven't been brave enough to get the tape measure(s) out yet

diddly - I don't really know what's involved with the Cambridge Diet - but you have to be comfortable with whatever plan you are on especially if it is going to be a longterm thing. Good luck with whatever you decide.

PepPop - you sound soooo organised with your batch-cooking - I sometimes cook a double amount of something and freeze half.

Well done dee - you have taken a massive step forward in getting that lot down. I was in a very similar place to you around seven months ago (22st 6lb) and I understand where you are coming from with your comments. On my weigh in last wed - 17st 6lb - I'm still quite a big girl - but we can do this together and keep each other on the straight and narrow (hopefully getting narrower) :rotfl: If I can give you any help dee just get back to me and I will give you whatever support I can. Like you my OH and family are very supportive considering we have been here many times before. Good luck dee we can do it.

Btw - I got to the exercise class this morning - it was aerobic things - got into a bit of a sweat - all good stuff - so they say.

Diddly I did the Cambridge diet some years ago it works amazingly if you stick 100% to it I lost 4+stone in a very short time and there is an article in our local paper this week of a lady loosing 10st on it.
Like everything else its when you come off it you have the problem of not putting it on again and starting the YOYO thing.
Someone I know used it to loose the bulk of her weight and then whent to SW to stablize and loose the last bit.
    Hope this helps:)

blue_eyed_girl Let's just say I talk a good game - no seriously I'm fed up buying food and either throwing it in the bin because it's sat in the fridge so long it's turned into a science project or it never makes it out the freezer in time to defrost and be cooked so we always end up eating take-aways so - and OH working shifts doesn't help cos I can never be bothered cooking just for me so I end up snacking on rubbish. So the theory is - it's all cooked and in bags that can be taken out whenever and cooked from frozen if need be. Let's see how long I keep it up :rotfl:
