Hope your dad feels better soon xxxAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

I find September - December is my peak time for sales, especially as I promote things for Xmas from September (helps customers to avoid being disappointed by out of stocks), and helps them spread the cost of Xmas. And better for us of course as means we sell more!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Hello there, a few years ago when I first turned 18 I was a rep in our village, I did a few sales but nothing to get too excited about, unfortunately we live in Norfolk and half of the homes in our village were holiday homes.
My boyfriend and I are now buying our own house in a much larger village with lots more permenant residents in, so I thought I would start up doing avon again. It would be a good way of introducing myself and getting to know the neighbours.
Last time I did avon I never did any special offers or anything, however this time I have some great ideas like spend £X and get a free gift, loyalty card scheme, raffle.
However now I am older I have been thinking about things that never occured to me . Being a rep do we need any kind of insurance to cover any product reacting or hurting a client?
As I now work full time mon-fri out of house from 8-6ish, what happens about the deliveries. Can the delivery man come when I am home from work or will he have to leave the boxes somewhere?
As what are your views about knocking with brochures, or leaving in letter boxes with an introductory note and a tick box to say if they don't want a brochure in future (thats what I did the first time).Mortgage overpayments 2014 £175

My hint and tip is from the potential customer perspective.
Please take the trouble to knock. Don't just dump and run.
Please do not leave your brochure outside my house in the wind and rain announcing to every passing burglar that I am away.
If you or your note says you will be back on or by a certain date then keep your promise thanks.
The last Avon person to come to this area just left her brochures outside, no knock and never came back, ever.
Pity it's not the campaign I'm on or I'd be tempted to add a few to my collection!
If reps can't be bothered to even put an introductory note inside and not collect on the right day, it's no wonder people often prefer to order online.
Some people do themselves no favours. She'll probably be moaning that she has no sales.0 -
I hate being unreliable but my usual delivery day clashed with the football and I've paid £500 for my season ticket so I'm bloody using it! Went out last night (a day late) and only got 1 or 2 delivered and left an apology note with the rest saying they can call or text me to rearrange delivery or I'll try again next wednesday (which is the only night I can fully commit to Avon). Got another 3 delivered tonight so only another 3 to go.
Have to call them as well cause they didn't deliver my brochures! My Debt Free Diary

Several of the people that i have met on my rounds have actually commented on how nice it is to read each newsletter as they call i include each time. It just highlights some of the main deals and tells them about the 90 day back guarentee etc, plus the winner of the last prize draw (anyone who places an order gets put into draw - only something cheap like shower gel but still good to get).Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Happened here recently and took hours to collect back in all the books not to mention consoling two new reps, who both wanted to resign!
Asking at one or two houses before dropping books to the rest doesn't always give you an accurate picture of what's happening on the street, though. I've had 2 people on a street of 24 tell me the whole street was covered and had been for years. I'd already delivered books by this point so I collected them but double-checked with the ASM that it was allocated to me. It turned out the 2 people I'd spoken to were the only 2 customers the other rep had on the street and everyone else hadn't seen a book for ages or couldn't remember getting one. If I'd taken their word for it (even taking their word over the ASM saying the street was allocated to me), customers would still not be served today.
Then you'll get people who aren't interested in Avon swearing they haven't seen a book ever, or for a long time, when in fact they could have had one only a few months before (allocated rep re-canvassing) but they've forgotten all about it. You could think you've got a clear run when you haven't.
I agree that the best method when it comes to saving your books and time is to knock on every door. Failing that, a check-box to say "I already have a rep" would be the next best way (or asking at the door if you have to knock when you collect).
Unfortunately as long as the allocation system is still a bit messed-up there'll be no ideal way to stop us from wasting our time/worrying other reps by accidentally going into their area.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Leaving books outside - I hadn't thought of them being a call-out to burglars, but the reason I've never done this is because if it rains before the person gets home they're going to have to carry a wet brochure bag in (even if the contents are fine) and put it down somewhere (getting the surface all wet) and dry everything down.
Actually I have done this about 5 times at most just because their letterbox was too small (only fits letter envelopes posted lengthways) or I could hear a dog on the other side going crazy.
I lost one of my plastic pouches the other day because I was using it to help push a re-canvassing card through. A very useful tip someone put on Connects was to wrap the note around your calling book (or anything rigid) and use that to push it through the door, then just pull the book back out. Unfortunately the dog grabbed the pouch and it was gone. No-one was in. Also no "beware of dog" signs. Yes, they had a glass door and I could see the dog, but when it's sitting there you have no idea it's suddenly going to start biting the letterbox and throwing itself against the door.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. Don't give up too easily, you have obviously done well. I would be inclined to speak to the customers when you deliver. Explain that they are supposed to have a rep covering them, if they are not getting a book from the rep who should be covering their area, then offer your services. Otherwise, Avon is losing sales, and you are losing commission. Neither is beneficial. If the customers you already have are asking you to come back, that is not the same thing, imo, as canvassing another rep's territory. The rep should get a rocket as well as they are not doing their job. How many customers did you get from the houses that are not on your territory?Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0
