Hi,
Please can anyone advise how long it takes for Avon to set up accounts, I have less than perfect credit history but I have a few people wanting to order.
TIA

With the current system about a week depending on the post.
I wouldn't worry about got credit history - Avon only refuse people if they've done Avon before but owe them money. They only really check that you are who you say you are, that you live at the address you say, and if you owe them money. It's done more along the line as applying for a catalogue rather than a credit card. Don't worry it'll be fine xAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

Morning Guys
Received our first order on Friday all fine and dandy!
Also received a copy of the Avon Beats the High Street Brochure, do we still get commission on things bought in there and does it count towards our MOV/HOV.

Yeah, everything we order counts towards MOV/HOV so long as it all gets put through on a single order.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Just wondering if I need any official confirmation from Avon before I start distributing books? Was signed up on doorstep on Fri.
SL away so can't check with her.
ThanksNow proud Mumto3 :j0 -
By signed up on doorstep do you mean you were literally signing the things there and the sales leader didn't come in to speak to you? This is entirely directed at the sales leader not you:
I'd read through the first page of this thread and click on the links to further hints and tips people have posted. That should give you the basics.
Did your SL leave you with a list of street names to go to? If not, you'll have to wait before canvassing. In the meantime you can give books to your friends and family, take one to work, if you go to a nursery with your children you can offer them one.
A few things to sort out:
- Avon account number - your SL should be sorting this for you and if you gave them an e-mail address look out for an e-mail. Follow the instructions in the e-mail to activate your online account. This means you can log into your rep website and access a range of things: placing orders, doing returns, training and information etc... If it gets to a week after signing up and you haven't had anything try contacting the SL. If they're not available you should call Avon.
- Next visit from SL - they should have either arranged their next visit already or be getting in touch about it. They need to show you how to use the rep website and most importantly place your first order. At the moment Avon are re-vamping the rep website a bit so you'll be able to find online training showing how to use it. Even without the training videos online it's possible to work out how to place an order yourself, but your SL earns money from you so they should put in the time and not leave you hanging.
- Are you a friends and family rep or a territory rep? - the SL should have made this clear. If you're friends and family you can't canvas, you can only build a network of people you know, friends-of-friends, recommendations etc... If you're a territory rep they should be sorting out somewhere for you to cover.
- When does your order have to be in by? - I'm just thinking of what you said about the SL being away. How long are they going to be away for? If it turns out your order date is 2 weeks away and the SL is only away for a week, then that's fine. Otherwise if your SL is un-contactable or at least unable to see you in person it would be a good idea to get onto Avon directly. Does anyone know the number for this? I was thinking of a number other than FastTrak - if the account hasn't been processed yet they might not be able to do anything. I'm thinking a number for head office?
So that's all you have to think about for now. Sorry if that sounds a bit overwhelming but it seems like your SL has done a runner (at least temporarily). Hopefully they will sort out your paperwork and things as a priority. If you put the first part of your postcode on here, or village or suburb where you live, someone should be able to give you the name of your ASM (Area Sales Manager). They're above your SL in the chain so if you can get a number for them they might be able to help. They may even come over to train you if the SL is away.
So plan of action would be: try contacting SL, then try ASM if you can get the number, then Avon themselves.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

LOL - she did come inside to do the paperwork! I meant that I hadn't approached Avon, she was looking for someone to cover my area! She's only away for weekend, so I'm sure we'll be in contact next week.
I'm at the beginning of the 3 wk cycle, so have got time on my side. I was left with 40 books and told that area will be confirmed later next week, but to assume I had my street definately. I just suddenly had a thought on whether I had to wait for anything official eg account number, credit check before I started.
Have got catalogues prepped & ready to go :TNow proud Mumto3 :j0 -

No once you've got your books you can get started - start with your friends/family/work etc, and then your street. When you hear about your roads start with them, but I'd start on your friends/family first - they're more guaranteed to order!

Oh good, the situation's not a worst-case-scenario! Unfortunately reps do get signed up by SLs who are in and out of the house in a flash.
Avon will do a mini-credit-check, but as long as you don't have any outstanding debts with Avon (used to be rep in the past), then you'll be fine. You're given a credit limit, which goes up over time, and it's worth knowing what this is. For example mine was £400 and if my order was going to cost more than that in my first campaign I would have had to pay the difference to let them send the goods out.
It's likely that your street was free - SLs canvas free areas looking for reps to cover them. I guess that's what she meant by saying to assume the street's yours. It's still a good idea to get written confirmation of the streets you can cover - once the SL's back from wherever. When you said "away" before I had visions of her being abroad for a week.
Since you're at the start of a 3 -week campaign it works in your favour not just for getting account number sorted, second training appointment fitted in, but sales, too. I agree with Lozza that fitting friends and family in during that time should guarantee some sales while your territory warms up.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here.
