Doh,
I leave Vodafone to go to a network that has a working mast and then they send an e-mail via a hyperlink with my bill; which I cannot view because I am no longer a customer. How thick is this company? Do I have to pay a bill that I cannot see? Is there any case law on this? Any thoughts?:T0 -
OK so i phoned Vodafone yesterday to downgrade my price plan. i've done it before no problems but.. as soon as i get put through;
" hello, whats your number'
"07*********"
"wow thats a really good number, can i buy it off you?'
"uh sorry?"
"i want your number, can i buy it off you?"
"wha? im sorry whats going on" (me looking at my phone to make sure i've actually dialled the right number
"i could black mail you, block your number'
"im sorry what?! well considering your on speaker phone and there are three people who just heard that, i don't think thats a good idea"
"hahahahaha! just kidding, but i will buy your number if you want to sell it"
"..not today"
"soon?"
"i don't think so, im sorry whats going on?!"
"hahaha don't worry, right what can i do for you?"
"i would like to reduce my price plan please"
"right, whats your full name and full address?"
"(my name and address)"
"that's a beautiful name, so unusual"
"thanks" ( by this point the three other people are cracking up and im a little bemused)
" and your date of birth"
"(i give him that)'
"is this your real voice?"
"huh?!"
"your voice, its quite deep, in a good way!"
"yes, its my real voice. do i sound like a man?"
"hahaha no no, its nice" (no wonder it takes forever to get to speak to vodafone!!)
so then he goes on for a good ten minutes to say that he can do something with my contract, i decide against it, then he goes back to this...;
"what about we share the same number?"
"no im ok thank you"
"i could get us on a good tariff and lots of discount"
"no im going to orange after this, i don't get any signal with vodafone"
"we could get you booster boxes"
"no its ok"
"do you think you will ever sell your number?"
"dno not now, couple of years maybe"
"ahh ill be manager in a couple of years then i can take whatever number i want"
"right"
"i'm going to take five pounds off your next bill"
"thanks, you're a legend"
"can i call you tomorrow"
"i dont' think i'll pick up" (i'm not great at being blunt and everyone else has stopped laughing and telling me to hang up)
"i could call you on vodafones customer call back service"
"no i'm ok thanks, i need to get back to work"
"ok, thanks for calling Vodafone etc."
then i get two text messages saying my content bar has been lifted and i can visit a full range of sites on mobile internet (NEVER expressed a wish to do this?!)
i do get a little bit of customer service cheek, but i think this is way over the top and am now seriously considering seeing if i can cancel my contract asap and move my number somewhere else. I'm a little nervous and weirded out.
Has anyone else had such a bizarre conversation? it's got me a little worried that i'm going to lose my number.

Back in October I was a very happy O2 customer, ok i needed a new handset but all in all relatively content.
Then some man from the sub continent phoned whilst at work and offered the Vodafone RED package £9 per month less than O2.
He asked for my bank details and I told him to whistle, but they found some archived account details and processed me on those.
He threw in a galaxy s3 and I was chuffed and told all my friends and off they trotted to get on the RED package too!
I noticed straight away as my number was PAC'd over that Data wasnt great in the house, but hey we have super fast fibre broadband so who cares. Then I noticed it was slow at workbut hey Im super efficient now (no more tweeting and facebooking for me when Im supposed to be working) then the maps stopped keeping up when using the google maps as a sat nav.
I always have an E on my data (was a H+ on o2) it sometimes flicks over to 3g or H but its like it tries then gives up and defaults to EDGE (E)
I phoned Vodaphone and spoke to a rep who was quick to switch off the the high speed data .....dardar.....no data.. is there any thing else I can do for you today ?
I have phoned at least once a week since then, they all call me back, all turn it off and on again, Ive had a new sim but still nothing
Then I get a text saying "cmon you have unlimited data and you have only used 349MB since getting unlimited data"
I have a phone my employer pays for me to speak to people on and text for free, I have a smartfone to watch video tweet and record and share things with people.
The man I spoke to today said "dont worry we will have 4g early next year" "brilliant" i replied my EDGE technology is yet further behind everyone else (mine is a non LTE s3.
I would be grateful for your thoughts on this, and if the Voda guys got in touch that would be awesome too!

Hi,
I thought I would post todays experience with Vodaphone customer services.
I wanted to pay off and close my account, this was going to cost £350 which is fine. I got put through to cancellations, explained my request, and was asked for my card details. I gave all the relevent numbers only to be told that payment was declined. I knew that there was plently on my card so asked the agent to read back the details to me so I could verify they were correct, he did this and I confirmed he had them right so I asked him to process it again. Again he said it was declined, I politly said no problem I would contact the card provider and call back.
I called my card provider and asked for an explination, I was told that a vodaphone transaction for £1 had been declined due to incorrect date entry. This request was only processed once.
My concern is that my details have been taken and deliberatly declined with the possible intention of them making a transaction of £350 one that I would not question on my statement as I would be expecting it.
Has anyone else experienced this, I cannot think of any other reason that this would be done?
Thanks in advance

hi steve, any payment over £300 with vodafone is subect to additional security. the security system takes the £1 then refunds it immediately back to the card . then if that is accepted, then the payment is attempted. hth.does my bum look big in this sig?0

Really, really, not amused. About 9 months ago, I developed a problem with my blackberry curve, reported it, and customer support were unable to resolve the issue. As the phone would still work, I abandoned an attempt to resolve it. More recently though, a medical issue has meant that I am really struggling to use the Blackberry. I asked what my options were, and I was told that I could either sell my phone for £30, or buy out my contract for £300. Now the ridiculous thing is, that I wanted to stay with Vodafone, but it will actually prove cheaper to move provider and get a WORKING mobile, which I am able to use, and let my contract see out it's days. Really dissatisfied with the support, and on this basis can neither recommend Vodafone, nor want to use it again...0

The equipment and contract are two separate entities. If your phone is faulty, get it fixed, take it into a Vodafone store or to a Blackberry Repair Centre.
You could purchase a new phone for a fraction of the £300 price it takes to cancel out the contract and still carry on using the contract.0 -
