The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

Today I sorted through my jewellery boxes and put some old gold plated earrings and pendants in the charity box, found 2 more broken gold chains to put with a few others I sorted a while ago to sell, binned a few random items from our bedroom. I then moved onto the spare room, where my DS still has lots of his stuff stored, and he has model figures displayed on just about every surface which gather loads of dust, so I took them all down, dusted them and put them neatly into a box ready for him to take to his flat when he's ready (which going by the state of their flat will be the 12th of never, lol!).
I then cleared his shelf, which had a couple of racks of audio cassettes that he doesn't want anymore, so they've gone in the charity box, he also has a 6-drawer storage cabinet full of audio cassettes and another with video cassettes which will also go to CS at some point, binned some dried up felt pens, also found the box for his personal CD player, so they've now been reunited and put in the Ebay box.
Eventually I want to put all DS's stuff, that's stored in his drawers and wardrobe unit, in boxes and store them in the shed until he takes them, so we can get the room decorated, but I need to sort the shed out first as that is quite full at the moment, but I think a lot of what's in there will end up going to CS.
Managed to do 1 basket of ironing, and will try to do the other basket load tomorrow.
Pending out: I've sold 6 items on Ebay (got £16 for a very old mobile phone!), 5 have finished and the other 1 finishes later this evening, so if they're all paid by the time I go to bed I'll try to post them tomorrow. Also got some old batteries to put in recycling tomorrow.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I was feeling brave today and thought I'd have a go at tackling the 'dumping room'. Managed to sort/get rid of the following:
2 boxes of books ready for CS
3 more piles of books sorted and ready to be packed for CS (have to get box from somewhere!)
64 old photography magazines to recycling
3 old catalogues to recycling
1 old electric typewriter waiting to be delivered to CS
1 glitterball for CS
1 pair of wheely trainers for CS
1 makeup bag for CS
also out:
3 bags general rubbish
6 old, unloved and unwanted cosmetics
3 picture frames to mum
2 ins: was a very naughty girl and went to the Boots sale this morning so in came:
1 gok set
1 No7 palette.
Can't wait to get this stuff actually delivered to CS then it will finally be out of the house !:j (still a long way to go though in the great declutter)0 -

Ratty old towels - animal rescue centres/vet surgeries will take them, as bedding for the animals
Unwanted prescription glasses - most opticians have a recycling box to put these in - they go to Africa, I think someone on here said. Our optician doesn't keep it near the door, as people use it as a bin, so you might have to ask.
Bras - in good condition - http://www.breasttalk.co.uk/bra-appeal/
Tetra packs - have noticed our local council have recycling banks for these at some car parksEnjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

I have made sooooo much mess while decluttering that today i am on a mission! By 3.20 this afternoon this house is going to be transformed!! I have a child free weekend so it has some chance of staying this way for more than an hour! If you never hear from me again it maybe because i have lost the will to live or am buried under piles of crap!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
Hope everyone doing well. Might have time in a million years to catch up on the thread!! xxIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. Yes I spotted one on Monday too, having forgotten to take the one that is sitting in the garage to IKEA and had checked online, found these new bins in some Sainsburys, and then went to a Sainsburys not on the list and they had one too so will take it when I'm next there. Details are here: http://www.recolight.co.uk/My-Recolight/Consumers/Advice-for-Consumers/ (although bank locator not totally accurate)
I'd also like to add carrier bags to the list, I always say no to carrier bags in shops and use my own reusable bags, in 2009 we only bought 2 bags into the house that we had accepted in shops (1 in Woolworths closing down sale and another at a trade stall at an event) and in 2010 none at all. If people give us things in bags, the wrapping from magazines that sort of thing we take them to Sainsburys or Tescos and put them in the recycling bins there.
Some Tesco stores have coat hanger recycling too if you find you have too many of these.
Hope that helps a bit.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Have been really busy recently so not much chance for ins or outs!
Did send off the badges I'd sold though so they are all out and the only ins are a bit of post (some straight into recycling) and OH collected 2 new camera lenses from the post office today - he got a new camera for Birthday/Christmas and is adding to his collection - can't really complain too much as they don't take up much room.
Pending 2/10 things on ebay have bids including 1 that was a free dvd that had been sitting on the shelf for years and most others have watchers so pleased with that, hope a few more bidders.
Have 2 piles of stuff for ebaying this weekend depending on whether it's a free listings or not. Added to it are 3 boden tops, went to put one on this morning after having not worn for ages and it was a bit snug - oops - think I'll ebay them as I obviously don't need them having not worn for nearly a year.
Well done on everyone's progress - great to see.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Decluttering update:
Tackled the kitchen. Even OH noticed...drum roll...kitchen surfaces!!!!! Did this by:
- putting all snack stuff in a cardboard box and in one of the cupboards instead of scattered all over the surfaces or in lock and locks containers all over the surfaces.
Am considering outing:
- coffee machine, it has so much clutter with it but I paid so much for it.......
- the slow cooker, it has a very heavy inner/dish. And I've seen one I fancy that's lighter.
Washing mountain:
Slow progress but slowly getting there.
- OH outed some clothes, he's the worst offender so this is a real result!!
I've lost count of how much has been outed. But I'll add 10 to my tally, it's probably about 3 times that!Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
