Sounds like everyone is really going for it! I haven't checked in for a few days due to illness (mine and the kids :( ) but I've been doing bits and pieces. I know others have said this, but sometimes I feel that it just gets worse before it gets better. Our living room is my bug bear, it was relatively clear in there this morning, but got both the DDs off school and playgroup with nasty coughs and temps, and DD1 has decided to be helpful and fill almost 2 bin bags of recycling. It's great, but it's come from her 'making stuff' and boxes from Xmas pressies, so the afore mentioned craft stuff and pressies are all over the floor. They WILL get tidied away by the end of the day so nothing to get stressed about really.

I think between us we must have done 100 items today alone - lots of bits of paper and odd bits for the bin, stuff found for car booting and ebay and a couple of things for the charity shop. I've been sorting out paperwork and 'stuff' from the cupboard under the stairs and although the kitchen side is covered right now, I know it'll be all put away/recycled by this evening :) The release from clutter it gives is fab :D

Just caught up, everyone is doing great.

Some ins but not too many:
    • Some post/leaflets - most in recycling, couple of catalogues looked at and put on coffee table shelf & something to look at in office
    • Avon catalogue by front door ready to go back out next week so not really an in
    • Some food shopping
    • My L*keland nativity set, had a major problem with them and sales orders, customer service was awful and to cut a long story short I got this for free, costs over £100 new and was £60 in sale when I tried to buy so really chuffed - although it is something to store until next Christmas now :o
    Out:
    • Batteries, bags, textiles and CDs all put in appropriate recycling receptacles.
    • 10 badges I've sold posted.
    Pending:

    • Some more badges out - had bought for fundraising for my Guiding activities but have decided I need the space and the money back so about 65 badges out
    Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
    Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
    Overpayments to date - £79.62
Current Mortgage free date - January 2058
  • I put out a full charity bag today for collection and they never came round to pick it up. :( So it's back in the house to get taken down to the charity bin at the weekend.

    Out today:
    - Three parcels from eBay sales
    - About a dozen Wii games to Amazon trade in

    Out tomorrow:
More eBay parcels. Have to take these in to work and post from there, so can only take a bag full at a time. Should be cleared of about 20 by the end of the week though!

Now to decide what to do with the small pile of unsold items. I may donate them to the CS just to get them out of the house rather than wait for the next free listing day.

  • Hi everybody

with OH's help took 3 bags to the charity shop today :j (& a loose tray that didn't fit in). Was very restrained and we only came back with 2 Avons footworks items & a special ruler for my husband to use when he goes fishing (which the lady gave us for free as we gave stuff).

Also have emptied an old purse, put the coppers & 5ps from it into the money pot and 10p into CC paying off fund. Purse in bin.

Now have sorted out some magasines -some to go to charity, some to recycling, some staying.

Have just bought a victorian chest of drawers tonight, which will hopefully be delivered at the weekend. Only £100. (thanks mam for the Christmas money) Drawers are lovely & deep - and solid. Putting this in here because it will help keep OH's clothes neater & less 'cluttery'.

OH saw an earthenware cup in the charity shop today, I said he could have it if he got rid of another glass in it's place, so 1 pint glass to go out, with an apron :T

If it's clothes/accessory type things you're selling then I've found a lot of them to be free to list anyway but I'm not sure what the restrictions are, mine were 1 picture (one category had the first 12 photos free but can't remember which), 99p starting price. Might be worth doing a listing and seeing what they come out as anyway :)

As an update I brought home loads of empty cardboard boxes from work but haven't actually put anything in them yet :o I plan on packing some clothes away into them by the end of the night though
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

It's media items which aren't free to list - mainly books and CDs. A couple of which are fairly rare collectors items, DH is fine for them to go but would be  with me if I put them on a low price. Those will probably go back on the shelf to try and sell again later, but I think I'll check if my local library want the books.

Might check it out for a couple of unworn (with tags, but store won't accept a return - already tried) pairs of DH's trousers though, so thanks for the tip. :money:

Everyone is doing so well, keep up the good work!

Today I sorted the cupboard in the lounge unit, found my DS's personal CD player which he hasn't used for years, and as he has an ipod he won't use it again, so that has gone in the Ebay box, also found my one in there but won't get rid of that yet as I may still use it. Put a few things back upstairs where they belong, and a couple of small plates in charity box, found about £3 in 10p's which have now gone into the 10p savings tin that we've just started.

Finally got around to sorting some of the paperwork that I took out of the drawer on Sunday and got rid of a few bits, but still more to be sorted through. I was a bit embarrassed as I picked up the pile of paperwork and found this week's TV guide at the bottom, I couldn't find it last night and after looking everywhere it could have been, I accused OH of taking it to the recycling centre with the other papers on Sunday, oops, lol! :o

Also put the biscuit barrel on top of the kitchen wall unit, as we only have biscuits at Christmas, so that has given me a bit of worktop space back. It's my day off tomorrow so will get on with some more, and must do some ironing so that will clear a bit of space too.
