The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

Good work everyone!
Tonight I managed to throw out another 3 carrier bags of rubbish from the bedroom, mostly Christmas packaging from smellies gift sets, put the toiletries in the appropriate box. Got a pile of 30 things for eBay, started listing them but too late now so will finish off before I go back to work tomorrow. Got quite a few 'ins' to own up to but they're useful things for the new house like new (pink
) pans, mug tree etc. They've been packed straight into my 'kitchen stuff' box too so they're out of the way and ready for action in the new place. Also nearly died of shock when my OH said he would list some of his computer components on eBay when he comes back from work, I've been bugging him about getting ready of some of that stuff for years. One of the old computer towers is currently being used as a bedside table and coffee cup depositing station so will be glad to see the back of it!
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0 -
My OH and I have cleaned up the living room (ish.. I still have my items to take to the charity shop) and chucked away boxes/damaged items of clothing from the storage cupboard.
I am still selling stuff on Ebay and it's going well. I think I've made about £20 once I've taken postage costs out of the whole price.
It's not much but it's a start.Competition Wins:

Hi everyone

Im learning! I just dealt with the post before it became clutter! Most of it went into the recycling, and I filed the credit card statement...so much quicker than leaving it all to pile up for weeks on end!January grocery challenge- £338.09/£350

I've been reading but not posting - gathering your ideas to help my de cluttering!
Everyone seems to be doing really well and thanks to your tips DH even commented yesterday "its really nice to come down in the morning to a tidy living room/kitchen", so looks like my hard work has been noticed!
Not exactly sure how much I've decluttered in the last week or so, but keep filling the recycling bag up with paper and taking carrier bags full of CS stuff to my Mum's so she can donate them for me when in town - not always a good idea as DD is usually with her and comes out with something "new" each time :rotfl:.
Trying to keep on top of everything now to keep the place tidy - at least if someone visits they can sit down now! Still cupboards and the loft to sort out but the results of the hard work are showing now!
Thanks for all your tips.Grocery Challenge - Jan £426.06 / £435.00

I've started a new bag for the charity shop - so far it has a pair of yoga trousers and a jumper in it :j I am decluttering my clothes by noticing what I'm not wearing and why, so it will be a slow and gentle process
Everyone is doing really well :TEnjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

This is what I really need to do but I will need to declutter my wardrobe first and figure out what I can hang up in it.

Went upstairs to make the beds earlier and it looks like DH, bless him, has just tipped a whole bag of stuff over our unmade bed . So, naturally, I decluttered! Here's what I got:
53. baby toy - CS
54. sticky sweet wrappers and empty bag
55. sunglasses - CS
56. badge
57. cardboard - recycling
58. plastic drinks bottle
59. entry pass from 2008!
60. old birthday card
61. car park tickets, 1 from 2005
62. plastic toy
63. old brochures - recycling
64. blood doning information - recycling
65. paper - recycling
66. book - CS
67. old postcard - recycling
68. old vouchers - recycling
69. old envelopes - recycling
70. sun blind for the car
71. ancient cereal bar!
72. old drinks carton
73. toy earring
74. baby sunglasses - CS
75. rusty screws x 2
76. broken cable tie
Also found 2 other things whilst upstairs:
77. broken alarm clock
78. broken piggy bank
Then from the kitchen a bit more as putting away shopping:
79. carton of juice lurking at back of cupboard with a use by date of 2008
80. some vegs which looked like they were part of a scientific experiment!!
Got DS home so can't do loads but should do 100 in 10 days seeing as how this is only the third day.
Keep going everyone - we can do it :jFlymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
We have quite a few of those clothing bins in our town (1 outside the fire station). These are great as I can send DS out with occasional bags of clothes at any time. Quite often we do stuff in the winter evenings when cs or recycling centres are closed. It never feels like a real declutter unless the items are off the premises!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Getting ready to decorate dd1 room so I have started sorting out some bits - 2 carrier bags of rubbish, 1 box for car boot sale in the spring & 7 bits to recycle bin. I am now going to shred the mountain of old receipts & bills I sorted a few days ago & put shreddings in the compost bin (the worms seem to love them) I started sorting the big cupboard in the utility room last night - only 2 shelves done but I don't think I will need to buy another battery or light bulb for quite a while!
This evening the children will be trying on some bits from the back of the wardrobe that I am sure are too small so that I can see what they do actually have to wear.
Keep up the good work everyoneDeclutter 2023 110/520
