The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

I spent yesterday afternoon in the garden with DH and got rid of lots of broken pots, bits of rubbish and a pair of garden shears that were too rusty to use.
I also 'found' a very large water pistol that I had hidden from DS a couple of years ago because he kept squirting water at his sister, the dogs and our windows (preferably when open). I don't usually throw things away without asking their owner first, but in this case, I am making an exception :cool:0 -

So this weekend wasn't too bad - although there are a few ins to declare:
In:- Few bits of post - all recycled/shredded
- Food shopping - won't stay for long
- 4 ducks from Cancer Research shop, really random purchases but I have a thing for 'rubber' ducks and these were reduced so I bought all 4, packaging in recycling and ducks in bathroom!
- OH's 2 magazines and new camera lens
- My new prescription sunglasses - in glove box already as for use when driving
- Jamie Oliver cook book, an early one, spotted in charity shop window - only £5 looks new and one we're missing in this edition - put on recipe book shelves!
- 2 Christmas cheques paid into account
- recycling as above
- more receipts shredded (not really out but now in bags of shredding in garage not on my desk!)
- 20 items to charity shop (added 3 scarves, 3 more items of clothing and some wind up knomes OH got in his Christmas stocking to my existing bag - BHF turn this time)
- 2 empty biscuit/cake tins into recycling found in back of kitchen cupboard, which made space for bread bin from dining floor, where it's been since we needed worktop space
- Various bits of food and drink to work, bits to use up, found some slightly out of date apple juice left over from a Brownie party that got squireled away and forgotten so I've bought that in for starters!
- Leftover roses we won't eat because they're nutty, some toffees and some other nutty sweets, bought into work and will leave in common room - sure some of the postgrads will help declutter them.
- Pile of CDs into work - will find someone with CD recycling sack and pop them in there.
- 4 bits of computer stuff OH has bought home from work going back  - real victory there!
- Box of batteries to take to Sainsburys for recycilng
- Two small bags of plastic bags to take to Sainsburys for recycling
- Sack full of clothes not good enough for charity shop to take to clothes bank for recycling
Also 10 items on ebay - all only small so not going to make a huge difference to decluttering but it's a start to regular ebaying.
Regarding shredding if you have a compost bin you can put it in there, and we used ours in our raised beds to help fill them when they were new - saving the bags now so that if we move we've got things to start the garden with.
So despite a few purchases most certainly in the correct direction this weekend and I think OH is getting the message too!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Companies have to keep all financial records for 6 years. For individuals it's your own personal preference, but I'd advise keeping your P60's for 6 years.Mortgage to clear asap! - [STRIKE]£148,874.38 [/STRIKE]as at 1 May 2013£79,176.55 May 2018£59,516.06 July 2019November 2020 £35,914.620 -
