Yesterday was a so-so day for the old decluttering. I'd been contemplating giving away 2nd spade as it was taking up valuable shed space but hadn't got around to listing it on Freegle when somebody posted a WANTED for one, so off it went. Also went thru a file and converted the A4 plain-on-the-back sheets into scrap pads (they'll be shredded once used and the shreddings composted). Downside was I excavated bedroom floor, found a small bag of clothes and misc put aside months ago for C.S., and felt they needed a re-wash before going as they'd got dusty. Am now having 2nd thoughts about a couple of the items...........;)
Today is grey and rainy so think I'll play in the forums for a while then get into more paper-y stuff and perhaps prise some lids off cans in the shed to see if they've solidified or not. Then I might unburden the kitchen counters of clutter, scrub them thoroughly and be selective about what gets put back.
Good luck with your Sundays, all

    Decluttering 50 things this weekend.
1-8 - mammoth amount of takeaway menus/brochures and gumpth (recycling)
    9. rubbish bits (bin)

Hoping to target using up some more toiletries stash this weekend too. :A
    continued...
    10. used up toiletries, wash out and recycled (recycling)

It's a slow start but I'll get doing it in bitesize chunks :j

  • Continuing my decluttering while in the mood still.
Both recycling bins are now full, and we still have a week to go before they are emptied - at least our council allows you to leave extra recycling at the side of the bins.

Can't wait for other bins to be emptied on Monday as both overflowing, and more waiting in the house.

Done 2 black bag fulls out of my son's bedroom - don't they accumulate some rubbish. OH to be 12 again and love to live in mess. Going to sort out his clothes later on.

Kitchen is still looking good, I'm trying to keep on top of it on a daily basis and chuck away anything not needed. I am stopping collecting and saving plastic trays and pots for gardening, as I have already got tons of them in the greenhouse and if I need any I will save them at the time. It is hard though, when you have saved this and that as 'I might need it' for so long.

Let's keep it up though, and ensure that 2011 gives us clutter free homes. I feel that if I can declutter I will have more time to do the things I want to do.

Everyone is doing so well - amazing what you can do when you have encouragement isn't it!

I've decided I'm going to have a go at 100 things in 10 days challenge. I stress the 'have a go' but everything I can get rid of is 1 thing less isn't it! I've got all this from 1 kitchen drawer:

    1. Worn out baking tray
    2. Random bottle lids
    3. Old tin lid
    4. Battered plastic cups
    5. 3 silicone bun cases
    6. 2 plastic plates
    7. Plastic key
    8. 8 bibs (to Charity Shop)
    9. Worn out cloth
    10. Magnetic words for fridge
    11. 3 x sippy cup nozzle covers
    12. 3 x sippy cup lids
    13. Old out of date menu
    14. Sippy cup
    15. Yet another different sippy cup lid
    16. Another different sort of sippy cup lids!

So not a bad start I don't think. Probably ought to get myself and the kids dressed now!

Hi G62 - you could freecycle those plastic trays and pots - might be another gardener out there looking for stuff like this :)

  • Im celebrating today that DH is actually decluttering too!! The shelf in the cupboard in the hall has been broken for months, maybe a year or more, so weve not been able to put anything on it and so everythings just been chucked in and leaving no room for the hoover or ironing board...which has been living in our bedroom...well this morning he has finally fixed the shelf and restored order in there, ive got rid of loads of my old shoes and the kids which dont fit, but most importantly the hoover and ironing board are back where they belong!!!
