The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

We decluttered no 2 son to uni on Saturday. I spent half the afternoon and most of the evening on Sunday finding the floor in his room. It is now relatively tidy and I managed to find a t shirt he couldn't find before he went. So for 10 weeks I should have at least two tidy rooms in the house and then they both come back again.:rotfl:
Mind you DD has taken over one room and she is inclined to spread herself everywhere so perhaps I am being too optimistic.:)0 -
In
Two CDs
Five magazines (people pass on their second hand mags to me!)
Seven books (from Gran who acquired them from a neighbour, I already have a severe book space problem, but I can't turn down freebies! I said I was going to do 'one in one out' on books, but can't face it at the moment! I will just read them and give them to the charity shop afterwards.)
Out
Recycled all of the magazines and brochures I've already read that were on the coffee table.
Pending Out
I have two borrowed films to watch and then these can be returned to their owners.
Thoroughly cleaned downstairs yesterday as we had visitors. Upstairs is now a right state as the spare room has again been used to hide all of the junk from downstairs that I didn't want the visitors to see!
I relisted a few items on Ebay yesterday, hopefully a few of those will sell.
I will finish filling the charity bag that's been lurking upstairs for weeks and take it into town this week!0 -

Well plan is this week to hit this house like a human cannon/wrecking ball... in the ethos of "sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better. And it WILL get better" [Cat04]
First step off to bedearlier than normal (chronic insomnia)...then early to rise hopefully
hope to see all you up and at 'em in the morningneed motivating!!

Aw thanks, I don't class myself as motivated so it's nice when someone thinks you areReading my post back I realised that yes, maybe I can be motivated sometimes as we did get quite a lot done in one day! I think todays quota of motivation has already been passed on to you! Hope you've had a good nights sleep ready to get that wrecking ball out lol.
So far today I've posted 4 ebay parcels so small amounts of packaging and items gone. Got a few things from our local Poundstretcher but they're all put away now.
Next job is either ironing or sorting the living room before getting DD2 from Nursery at 11.45. Only an hour to get as much done as possible. Will have to get the ebay listings done this afternoon/evening depending on what DD wants to do.Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Have done nothing on my To Do list
Have done a big food shop and batch cooked some biscuits and sauces, but the house is still a tip!
Though my understairs cupboard is lovely and tidy if I have visitors they'll have to sit in there.0 -
Haven't posted for a while, no real progress here, no more viewings and I feel like I'm living on edge now, can't live as I want in my own house. I know it would be good to crack on with some more decluttering but time when we're both at home is very limited at present.
Well done everyone. I was at work on Saturday and yesterday took some Guides to Wembley for a pop concert which meant I was out the house for 14 1/2 hours so no ebaying even here.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I have FINALLY got some a few things (8 lots but some of those are a collection of books) listed on my local facebook selling groups, they have separate ones for the usual stuff, plus ones for toys and toddler items so I have things on all 3 pages. Hopefully some of them will sell
OH took pics of all the carboot stuff we put on ebay, and we've found a few more bits to addI've done some crafting this afternoon making some of my Christmas gifts as I have a table at a local toddler group on Thurs and my first craft fair of the season on Saturday. Got rid of lots of packaging from things as they got used up, so even though OH only emptied the recycling bin in the kitchen this morning it's just about full again!
Went through the 4-5 clothes we got out of the loft last night, and DD2 has decided that she doesn't like about 6 things, so they've gone onto the carboot pile. The rest have been washed and are dried/waiting to be dried and then ironed...where they will go after that as there isn't much room in their wardrobe and drawers. Looks like we'll have to have a big clear out of DD2's clothes this week!Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

The wrecking ball had a mini outing...2 items listed on ebay....all the "stuff" I cleared out of the car for it's servicing has been sorted...rubbish binned...car stuff put in boxes ready to be stashed in the boot again
... hate that my totally empty boot has to store things...but guess it's the only place for it..de-icers, squeegees, dustpan+brush, de-mister cloths, compressor, toolkit, motoring kit, spare bulbs etc
Though my understairs cupboard is lovely and tidy if I have visitors they'll have to sit in there.
Car-ree :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: that is the best thing I've read all day BRILLIANT! ::rotfl:
got an image of some people squished under your stairs with proper fine bone china cups and saucers sipping from them carefully lolx

Evening All
Not posted for a while - things have gone totally astray ever since kids went back to school and college. Weekends have been filled ferrying them around to sports matches etc and work has kept me busy so much, am exhausted when I get home.
Anyway success this evening when DD2 wanted to change her room round - took us both 2 hours but we did it (apart from the bit where I got stuck behind the wardrobe for a few minutes:o) and have filled 2 binbags of rubbish, now in the bin. None of the stuff was worth even giving away on freecycle or to a charity shop - it was typical skanky teen rubbish if you get my drift - yuk.
I have told her her toiletries and make up needs sorting, plus her noticeboard and bookcase at some point- hmmmm whether it will get done this side of Xmas am not sure.
Off to bed now - my arms have taken a battering escaping from behind wardrobe.
Will hopefully catch up reading everyone elses progress probably this weekend (no footy match this week woohoo!)Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100

good luck everyone x0 -
I started yesterday to go through my paperwork. Shredded bank statements from 2008 and 2009 and old policies that I have now cancelled, it's a nice feeling to see it end up in the shredder. I will continue to sort out paperwork today. I am also planning on sorting out recipes thas has been cut out of magazines and are currently kept in a plastic pocket, I am planning on going through them and put them in a folder.
Good luck to you all with decluttering.
Electic_comperella, good luck with your ebay listing. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
