I know how you feel, my 'stuff to sell' is all stacked in the spare room at the moment, I'm determined to sell what I can, but it is very slow going!I had to laugh at DS1 - he asked me to look for a letter he'd left behind. 'It's on my windowsill,' he says. Meanwhile, I'm thinking, 'Oh no it isn't, not anymore.' He wouldn't recognise his room. :rotfl:Am I a cruel mum?
My DS panics when he comes to visit and finds I've moved stuff, in case I've chucked something important, lol! Mind you, if he'd take all his stuff to his own home he wouldn't have to worry about that, but I suppose he did only leave home 3 years ago!
I've finally put a bag of old carrier bags and a bag of tatty clothes in the car to go to recycling, posted 2 ebay parcels, put a bag of ebay packaging in the shed, along with a bag of stuff for CS which hopefully will get taken to the CS on Saturday.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I skimmed the top of the ironing pile yesterday but didn't get chance to do any today, and although it's not really got messier the house hasn't got any tidier despite me binning/recycling bits and pieces as I go around. .
Oh I know the feeling! It always seems to get worse before it gets better!

Here you go, it was started in 2007, and is 70 odd pages long so there are plenty of ideas although I will say that ebay has changed since then and I don't think we could get the same prices nowadays. I remember joining up to ebay in 2004 and getting loads of maternity and baby bits and pieces , sold most of them back again too but the fun of the bidding war isn't the same anymore to a lot of people. Saying that, all of the stuff I've put on this time I would nortmally of sent to the charity shop but thought I'd try my luck and at least one will sell. When I first came across that thread earlier in the year it inspired me to list quite a few things and most sold for more than I thought I'd get so there's still some folk out there who will bid and buy your junk, I mean classic pieces!
Igamogam - off to skim the next layer off the hated ironing pile, but I know I'll feel better once it's doneExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Thanks very much cat for the link.....although I'm now in danger of getting nothing done for the rest of the week while I avidly read all the bizarre things people have sold (like..."used carrier bags"!!!! Unbelievable!). It's a brilliant thread0

That's what happened to me! I did little else except sit on my bum for a few evenings reading that and jotting things down so I didn't forget. OH thought it was his lucky day not hearing a peep out of me lolExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Yesterday I had a bit of a sort out in one of the sheds, as it was such a nice day.
I've had a pile of boxes in there since the end of June, which my dad wanted us to take to CS, I've not taken them yet as the stuff in the boxes needed to be cleaned first, as my dad is a heavy smoker and is not on the best of terms with cleaning, lol. So yesterday afternoon I took the boxes out and cleaned most of the stuff that needed it (still got one box to go through), and managed to condense the boxes down a bit as some of the stuff wasn't suitable for CS, so it is all now in 4 boxes rather than 5, the box I got rid of was what a microwave came in, so quite big. All the sorted boxes are now stacked neatly ready for OH to take to CS tomorrow morning, along with a bag of stuff which I sorted earlier in the week. I also got rid of 2 other empty boxes, 1 was for DS's laptop and the other was for his DVD player.
OH was so pleased to see that I'd finally sorted it, and he was getting some room back in the shed, that he bought me a takeaway as I was too worn out to cook!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Our offer on a gorgeous little house is accepted... We are working on morgage, surveys and solicitors and so far it is going very well....
We currently living in a 2 bedroom flat with my husband.. At first I didn't thought moving will be a big deal, but everywhere I look is full of stuff and i know that I need to do a major de cluttering is needed before packing...
I moved with my family many times while I was growing up so I never had enough time to accumalate stuff, but I think i feel a bit more settled and start piling up stuff...
I know myself so I won't have problem with getting rid of the excess stuff belongs to me, but my husband likes to keep thingsDo you have any idea how can i motivate him?

Ask him if HE is willing to pay to move it, or is willing to do all the packing/shifting/unpacking of these things. Alternatively is HE willing to pay storage costs for it. You'd be surprised what will go out the door when it's them who has to maintain their carp!
Good luck with it all!0 -
Today will be spent in the garden, generally tidying up so that the garden waste bin can be filled up for Morning morning. Lovely day over here so have 3 loads of washing hanging outside. From today I am unemployed so I will use some spare time next week to sort out paperwork and shred it.
