Are there any local second hand bookshops that you could take them to? You don't tend to get much for them from these types of places, but I find that at least something is better than nothing - and they're out of the house, lol!!!
  • I have to de clutter every month or so, i have no idea where it all comes from, i try to keep the place tidy but the cottage just attracts clutter:mad:

OH has collected yet more stuff from his Mum's house, even though she said it was fine to leave it in her spare room! So now the kitchen table and part of the living room are full of his stuff. I am really annoyed with him as he has made no effort to go through his things in the spare room before bringing more things in. Any time I mention him going through some of his boxes, he just says that I have far more clutter than him and point blank refuses to even look through it. I've been gradually getting rid of my things, but he is just bringing in more and more. *Screams in frustration*

Edit - was so busy moaning that I forgot my Open University course materials arrived on Friday!

    Out

    Cracked mug thrown away

    Pending Out

    Book added to charity bag

Six items sold on Ebay, so they will be gone as soon as I receive payments

Reading about everyone else's decluttering efforts is a great motivator! x

That is so true! Having MIL visit, as she did today, is another one, lol!
All that remains in the kitchen now is the...... undersink cupboard - uuurrrggghhhhh!

I sympathise, I can't get anything in my undersink cupboard, and things keep falling out (and landing in the cat's food and water bowls, lol!), so I really must tackle that at some point this week!

I've not really done much decluttering since Wednesday, but I finally took my dad's blanket back on Thursday, along with his washing, yesterday OH took three bags to the CS, posted 3 ebay parcels which I'd forgotten to post (oops!), and we took another blanket back to MIL. Today I finished a bottle of shower gel and put the bottle in recycling box, and did a pile of shredding.

Not much decluttering here for me but I have been dealing with things as they have come in to reduce the build up. Managed to get my OH to take baby steps in clearing out his things and he has set aside two pairs of shoes to go to charity (better than nothing!).

    hi

i have been in the loft and found a ton of books that i don't use anymore, i would put them on amazon but i would really want rid of them quick, aside from charity shops, does anyone know of a place that takes books for a bit of cash? I have googled and come across a place called fatbrain, but every isbn i put in they didn't want :( - anyone used abebooks? supposedly they do the same... :S ? i would rather get a bit of cash for them

    I have used Green metropolis?

    they can be good,

my decluttering has slowed down with being back at work. I did clean out the fridge :) but that's it.

Aim this week to clear out one kitchen cupboard each evening.

Just watching a Law and order, a character has ran and hid in the wardrobe you couldn't do that in mine! :o:o
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Catching up after not being online over the weekend:

Continuing my 30 things out of the house by the end of Saturday:

9)tiny offcuts of wood, a pot full, to the recycling bin at the tip
    10) metal bean trainer thing in scrap metal bin at tip
    11) box of cartons to recycling

(random stuff out of the garage)

12-36) Books to Oxfam bookshop - all those I'd kept back to sell & they haven't sold. Was 30 but OH took 5 out of the pile. Also found 1 I'd dropped when I got home so will be in next charity bag.

So I made it! All that stuff out the house and usual recycling etc into the boxes in the garage that are collected.

    In:
4 new shirts for OH & some cufflinks
    2 magazines for him
Face wash for him (£2 in boots with No7 voucher, then 300 points back with machine coupon so they'd paid me to take it away - result! and he uses it a lot)
Boots magazine - already read & in recycling.
    staple gun

    Otherwise just food.

So not bad at all & house looking pretty clean and tidy atm. Still have office issues but that will need to be tackled on Sunday when the show I'm helping with this week is over!

Even though we are usually busy Sunday morning, then out from 1-4ish we still managed to get quite a bit done yesterday :)

Headed back to the conservatory and found 3 more books to sell/donate
Cleaned the windows, doors and frames
Old tatty PC chair - in garage for next tip trip (was a cheap one, and we both have lap tops so don't need the chair anymore)
Small rusty bin - as above
Some books out of a box and put on shelves

DD1 got the bug too and headed off into the 'playroom' without being asked and found several bits for recycling, and a few for the bin. Still got plenty to do in there though but it was a good start. DD2 was having a rare nap on the sofa.
OH listed yet more blu-rays on ebay, and a tv and a box of ring binders etc on freecycle so hopefully they'll be gone soon

Made another nanppy cake today so my stash has been slightly depleated :)

Kind of decluttering..... today I have spent the entire day  cleaning the house and sorting the washing. All of my washing is done and now I need to fold it all up and put it all away :(. I actually filled the hoover cylinder with the amount of dust and gibble I sucked up today! I have put some paperwork on the sofa to be sorted out later or tomorrow. Most of it will be for the bin though. Have some holiday brochures to chuck in the recycling.
The whole of the upstairs of the house is now nice and tidy and the floors are clean. Tomorrow I will have to clean the bathroom and downstairs loo. Then it will be done ready for me to start my night shift and probably be wrecked again on Wednesday. I can then start again on Thursday. Bit of a pain as I'm working Thursday & Friday night, out Saturday night then working the following 4 nights. The house will be hideous next week again. Frustrating isn't it!
