Eek, I haven't been on here for over a week at least, and apart from day to day stuff I haven't really done any decluttering either :( I have yet another huge ironing mountain (about as tall as the ironing board!!) That is being tackled this afternoon. DD2 is at her pre-school all day today so I have plenty of time to get things done, plus 2 of DD1's school friends are coming for tea so another excuse to tidy up. I love MSE and have found lots of the boards useful and love reading the threads.....and that's my downfall, I spend more time reading threads then I do actually doing things round the house.
I want to get the following things done over the next week:
Sort out the top of our wardrobe as there's xmas presents etc shoved up there that need sorting and writing down so I don't duplicate/overspend etc.
Get all ironing done and put away so I can evaluate mine and OH's wardrobes - the DD's have been done and are all sorted.
Sort out the playroom aka dumping ground.
Get some things put on our local facebook selling groups and hopefully sold :)

I have plenty of other things I want to get done, but don't think I can do them all in a week!

    A few more outs:
6 Bag of Guide bits to be stored in the cupboard at the hall - put there last night
7 Bag of Guide bits to use at Guides last night - used, extras went to other leaders house who has space & isn't trying to move!
8 Sewing machine in the boot to drop off tonight - even found the instructions too!

This has meant vacuum cleaner can go back in the cupboard where the bags had been stashed and I've sorted my sewing table out with my new machine.

This in turn has meant I've made up my cushion, so fabric front I stitched, back fabric and cushion pad are now 1, on the settee, and I've put something in the space on the shelf the cushion pad was in so helping clear table too!

Next few things to do are:
    a) taken all the books I'd kept last autumn because they looked like they might be worth GMing and off Green Metropolis and will take to the Oxfam Bookshop tomorrow if I can - I've sold 3 and nothing since March and I don't have the space to store them anymore. Will probably do the same for what I've got on Amazon too shortly (some overlap).
    b) take cartons, textile recycling, if possible metal & wood etc from garage to recycling places - in case we do get a viewer garage could look a bit better if these were gone.
    c) try a few ebay listings - you can count my waking hours at home over the next week on your fingers so I don't have time for much stuff but at least I could prepare some.

So will try & make it to 30 things completely out the house tonight/tomorrow morning and then crazy week starts...

We did better than I thought today (well, yesterday as it's now technically Sunday!) After a late start we have done:
OH took several parcels to PO for posting
Made a good start on conservatory - binned/recycled/put in carbooting box/CS bag at least 30 things, so met the challenge in one day! This included some books, surplus packaging and boxes that are tatty and no good, and general bits of rubbish.
We re-housed things to shed/playroom/toolbox/for filing etc.
I sorted out the bookcases - dusted and removed a few for selling/donating
Cleared, cleaned and put a few choice items back on the shelves
Packaging sorted and moved to garage.
My ironing board is set up in the conservatory and I managed to get quite a good chunk of the ironing pile done in the time it took OH to have a shower and shave

Finished the day off by dropping OH off in town, putting the girls to bed then having a friend round for a good old girly natter, a takeaway and a funny film :) Finally off to bed now

    More planned for tomorrow :)

PS Reading about everyone else's decluttering efforts is a great motivator! x

I have not had time to do any decluttering for a while since my current job is ending at the end of this month so any spare time is spent applying for work but this evening I have decided that I will have a break from application forms tomorrow.

Decluttering plans for tomorrow are as follows.
    * Tidy up in the garden and fill up the garden waste bin from when we tidied up in the garden last time.
    * Shred newspapers and then soak them so that we can make paper logs next weekend
    * Make more paper logs from soaked paper and newspapers
    * Iron
    * Make breakfast muffins to use up various ingredients
    * Sort out any mail received, i.e file, bin etc. so that the sideboard in the hallway will look tidy for a change

Good luck with all your decluttering this weekend.

This was my to do list for last Sunday and finally I have now managed to do them all. Yippee! Last weekend my OH sorted out the garage so that now looks much tidier. Yesterday I cleaned the whole house and also cut off lots of lavender that we have in the garden that are now hanging in the utility room to be dried. Lavender smells lovely.

    Have a nice weekend
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j
  • So how is everyone getting on? :)

SORTED KITCHEN ALERT! Woo-hoo! Did an absolute blitz on the kitchen yesterday. I decided to change tack slightly (with some encouragement from a friend).
    :beer::beer::beer:
Delivered a box of bits to a local charity shop. Lots of plates, kitchen gizmos and stuff. And a bag of recycling. And a couple of bags of rubbish. All that remains in the kitchen now is the...... undersink cupboard - uuurrrggghhhhh!

The targets for decluttering a set number of items is a great start as it helps remove layers of clutter which you couldn't possibly get straight with them about. So I'm going to continue to set the mini targets alongside tackling a particular room.

TARGET: Find 10 things from the most cluttered areas today to charity / recycle/ bin
ROOM: Concentrate on the bedroom for 15 minutes and pack my bag for next work trip soon.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.
