The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

I received an email from my new boss in Adult Learning requesting we destroy all last year's paperwork. That could be interesting with all the countless files I was emailed and saved...
On the up side my son suggested that the odds and sods cupboard be condensed into a smaller cupboard currently overflowing with food storage and the food transferred to the larger cupboard. One of his few good suggestions when de-cluttering. He actually suggested it a couple of weeks ago, said he would do it and never did.
To condense, I had to declutter, so lots of useless bits that 'just might have been useful' went. A lot of leftover Christmas cards from boxes of ten bought over the years, for example.
I also discovered the second key for the padlock on my bike which has been missing for about six years, a brooch I'd mislaid, and realised just how many light bulbs we have.
I seem to have been the recipient of endless free low energy bulbs from various schemes and I also found some old-style bulbs as well.
My lounge is horrendously dim so I think the old style bulbs will be going into use. Which means another low energy bulb to store, so no declutter there. I have some sympathy with those hoarding the old bulbs.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Mcculloch29 - you could freecycle (or freegle) those bulbs. Or give them to a charity shop.
I'm going to declutter 10 items and drop them off. I've made a start:
1. A heavy/thick towel - my WM hates it, so it's washed and ready to go.
2. Magazine (recycled).
3. Used up a packet of hair dye (finally), packaging recycled, except for name/colour on lid.
4. Used up a perfume, packaging recycled.
5. Recycling from bedroom.

Hi, just flitting in and out as I do! There is a chance we may be moving so I've been into the loft (had to do it anyhow as took up some stuff from our camping trip) - found 6 items of clothing to recycle (not fit to pass on to charity shop), 10 items to go to charity shop and 3 empty boxes which I've squashed and put in for recycling. There will be a lot more ......Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0

I found a few foreign coins when going through my penny-jar, any thoughts on what to do with them?
Marks and Spencers collected foreign cash when I had a clear out last year. Oddly they didnt seem to advertise it anywhere - I just went in to the bureau de change at the local shop and they had a donation box behind the till.0 -
Thanks mineallmine I'll have to have a careful sort through the leccy bulbs and yes, I probably will CS some of them, the local CS's just love me! The person who runs our local Freecycle makes a living out of carbooting and e-baying, I think, so I steer clear of that, perhaps I shouldn't. I've no idea if Freegle operates locally.
My window cleaner asked if he could take away my old scanner (still working but obsolete) and my old printer (should have worked but had spat its dummy out and I was tired of the lengthy charade it took to resolve the issue) I'd stored them in a cubby hole by my back gate and he'd spotted them.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Hello
I have finally taken steps to face the kitchen cupboards and drawers and I have cleaned out another two drawers throwing out two carrier bags of rubbish in the process
Just going to have a rummage through the top cupboards to see what else I can get rid of. I have a large bag ready for the charity shop too and a trip to the dump tomorrow will get rid of another pile of stuff.
It is such a liberating feeling clearing the clutterTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

You choose who to give your stuff to though, just just ignore if they ask and say someone else has it if askedGOD BLESS DURAN DURAN
