Dear fellow declutterers
There is hope for all parents of teenage boys. My two - 14 and 17 - have decluttered cleaned and tidied their bedrooms. I gave up nagging years ago so this was purely off their own backs. My room is now officially the messiest in the house !
You know where I'll be,,DC.

Hi. Think that this thread is just what I need to keep me on track! I start off de-cluttering with good intentions, but end up shifting stuff from one place to another as I can't decide if it needs to go or needs to stay...even though I really know!
Update from yesterday: 2 undercounter freezers on freecycle ...gone! Today: 2 bags to charity shop, 2 bags to S. Army in exchange for £2 voucher (ready by front door)0 -

I too admit to having the messiest room in the house.:o
Not much decluttering happening today, lots of ins - new school blazers, trousers, sweatshirts, bag, boots, shoes, gum shield, birthday card, food and socks.
Have also managed to do some painting - trying to get this finished soon.
The only outs have been general rubbish and recycling.
Have a lovely evening everyone Pollys xMFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

Send Motivation!

I am packing up stuff I don't need and giving stuff away to charity and chucking in the bin etc but I am flagging
I have mugs that I have boxed up for when I move out.

about ten minutes after starting this post a HUGE spider came out from under the sofa. Me - scream and run and then think hmmm can't exactly leave it in there, other wise I won't sit in the living room at all.
so I sucked it up with the hoover, I tried with the spider catcher thing but it was too big - cue total freak out and then a broom and then I gave up being nice and sucked the !!!!er up!
Sorry to any animal lovers but I really don't like them.
any how certainly given me motivation to shift and declutter crap.

Woohoo - DD1's room completely decluttered and sorted! Down to pairing up bratz and barbie shoes and getting rid of odd ones
I had to make some harsh decisions but got 2 binbags of rubbish from her room and a bag of charity / ebay stuff! DD1 is 8 and a little magpie!! She keeps beads from bracelets that broke 3 years ago, mini keyrings, strange coins, stones etc!! So things i see as rubbish she says are 'memories'!! So i have allowed her one 'Magpie Drawer'. She is allowed just this one drawer for collecting silly things!
Feel so much better as her room was a big task. Now to move on. I think i want to concentrate in the kitchen and sort it. Cutlery drawers and 'plastics' cupboard are the worst!
Trouble is i now have items for the loft and to sell at the bottom of my bed! Now need to declutter these!!Orange Fairy

I took a load of stuff to a car boot sale the other week and nobody wanted it! Managed to sell OH's football tops and computer games but nobody wanted my junk! My problem is that I can't bear to think about the amount of money I have spent on things just to throw them out or give them away.
Having read loads of these posts now feeling motivated to get rid of a whole load of stuff whether it be to the charity shop, car boot or just giving it away.
There's a whole bag of clothes under my bed that I haven't been able to fit into for years just in case I lose some weight anytime soon (I think we've all been there) but by the time I lose all that weight they won't be fashionable anymore anyway! I used to be a nursery nurse and the need to keep rubbish for a) dressing up b) junk modelling or c) other crafty things has never quite left me. I don't store up every cardboard box that crosses the threshold anymore but there still is a whole load of ribbon that I keep telling myself I'm going to use for wrapping presents etc!
I'll let you know how long the motivation lasts and how far I got after the weekend! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
After getting back from our hols on Saturday I've not done too much as I've got the usual post-holiday cold/feeling urgh
The few things we have got done:
Bought one of those plastic drawer towers for the kids craft/drawing/colouring stuff to go in. This meant that they had a bit of a clear out (yet again!) of scraps, pictures and bits they no longer want.
Tidied and re-orgainsed the girls bedroom today. This invloved a complete change around of bunk beds, wardrobe, drawers etc. Few toys returned to downstairs, tissues from under the bed binned lol, teddy cull (well, only 4 bless them, they did get rid of quite a few last time we went through them), Went through the wardrobe and reorganised, found spare hangers to recycle or send to CS. 2 items of clothing to save for DD2, 1 BNWT dress to sell on ebay or local facebook selling group.
I now have a box of stuff to list on facebook, which I think will be much quicker than ebay/CB, plus no fees and everyone is local so no postage and therefore hopefully get better pricesWill see how it goes.
OH has next Wednesday off and as the girls will be with my parents we're hoping for good weather so we can go to our local carboot and sell, sell, sell!
Lots of decluttering, cleaning and sorting plans for Monday and Tuesday whilst DDs are awayExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Have decluttered under the stairs. Why was the box, that the long time ago, broken and discarded sandwich toaster came in still there? Also sorted out some never now used stuff to give away. A bag of rubbish and some recycling later, I now have space, and will have even more when the broken, cannot be repaired vac is sold to the man at the market next week.
DH took some ps games and leads into a local shop and he got £30, so pleased with that. It has been a lovely day here today so have also managed to get some washing done including the fleeces we use on the sofa and beds in the winter months.
Have done some reorganisation and a bookcase has gone into the garage and is proving itself to be useful already. Have also cleaned the porch and some stuff in there has gone in the shed.
A busy day, but pleased with what we have accomplished.
Have a lovely evening.
