  • I de-cluttered a washing machine and shredder :O this wasn't supposed to happen! washing machine made a horrible noise last wash and white smoke then poured out was pretty scarey; guess washing every one of the clothes wore it out, luckily I did the majority of the washing before hand but now we need a new one and have no money to buy one :( and shredder blew up as well, which has now been replaced.

I'm now going round all the rooms again seeing what else I can get rid of, starting with paperwork again. I've managed to empty 2x storage boxes in office so far.

Still at it but dont seem to have made a lot of progress:o Maybe when I sit back and think about it later tonight I will see the difference. Made a HUMUNGOUS long list of To Do's and To Dont's and No More's. Did flag a bit this pm and resorted to a chunky K*t K*T. Just having a breather after finishing lovely shepherds pie made by OH. It makes up for disaster lunch ( I said he needs practice) when he microwaved bacon for 10 mins  he thought it was grilling :rotfl::rotfl:

Haven't logged on for ages (netbook probs) but have still been decluttering.

    * Dropped off a box and a bag of stuff to charity shop yesterday.

Woo-hoo more stuff gone, hello car boot I've missed you! Space, yay!

Up with lark and taken stuff to boot of car for charity shop - 4 bin bags. 2 bin bags of rubbish. Large pile of stuff for DD2 to photo for Eb*y. Plenty put on Freegle - if it dont go it will be taken to charity shop. Off to declutter kitchen cupboards whilst listening to Archers - my guilty pleasure :)

  • Now what I need is to get my OH to start decluttering his things, he is obsessed with keeping everything and he even owns more shoes than me . Little does he realise but I have, every couple of days, looked out a few things for him to sort through. I started with tools and now I am on to cables. Does anyone else have an OH who collects cables and widgets????

Mine built himself a HUGE shed complete with mains electric and running water. I suggested he moved in :rotfl:Here he stores all his widgets cables tools those useful screws and washers and WOOD lots and lots of bits of WOOD. When we inherited my Grandads shed who was a dedicated hoarder and keeper of stuff my OH was in his absolute element and decanted everything into his shed into the 'collectable and antique' section. I swear he goes in there just to admire it all. But you are much braver than me............... I wouldnt dare ditch anything:eek::)

Hi Girls, check out the Spooky Men and their song 'Don't Stand between a Man and His Tool' (it was on Youtube a while ago)

As for me, well a bit slow going at the moment, but OH has decluttered a sword(yes, really, there was an interesting moment when he thought he would then need another (unnecessary) one - to replace the one he didn't need ) He also decluttered 2 tops which he has given to a family member (although one of said family member has left one of his behind by mistake, so at the moment we're only 1 ahead :rotfl:)

I had a bit of an urge last night, looked in a set of drawers, found some theatre tokens which i was given ages ago, checked and found there is nowhere within a useful distance that I could use them in so have decided to give them as a wedding present to someone. Also found a keyring (not sure whether to keep or get rid), an old student card from a long time ago (intend to cut that up and throw). there is also a ceroc card from when I used to go dancing, but I really should get rid of that as I can't use it anymore..Oh, and a commemorative wedgwood plate, which I don't really want to keep, but am not sure what to do with.

I have a load of papers to sort out too, keep losing things at the minute.:(

    In

    PC game
    Lever arch file

    Out

Bag of clothes and a few other bits to Mum for her carboot sale.
Two catalogues and a poster recycled.

    Pending Out

Pair of trousers and a keyring into charity bag.

I have cleared a shelf to keep my stationery and study materials on, for when my course starts in October. While clearing that shelf I found a lot of beads and jewellery making stuff, so I will be sorting some out to sell on Ebay.
  • I've not been on this thread since Part 1 :o

Am still carrying out my 'continuous decluttering' - and doing well.

I have just announced its D day in our household................. Do it Dump it Deal with it. DD2 is ecstatic........I worry about her sometimes :)

:rotfl:That's what I was like - when I was a teenager, and my Mum was at work, I'd ask her what she wanted 'decluttered' while she was out - kitchen cupboards were my speciality :o DS1 has inherited this, DS2 needs 'prompting' and DH is only really good at streamlining stuff at work

That said, DS2 had a sudden rush of blood to the head last week, and asked me to help him sort out his 'boy cave' (aka his bedroom - he's 16). And we got rid of piles of stuff. He's very tidy, but his cupboards were neatly stacked with stuff he didn't want.
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Cant believe it.....I go and visit friends yesterday with DD2 whilst DD1 stays at home to work on dissertation and OH stays to 'help'. Come home to find tornado has struck  only downstairs loo has miraculously survived and it looks as if we are back to square 1 :mad:

Anyway today is a paper work day as I am helping a friend out with child care so DD2 is occupied out on their bikes whilst DD1 still in bed :shhh: must have been all that dissertationing :rotfl:

elaine12022 - if its cables the sort that are used for computers, electronics, phones etc,I use an old shoe box with empty loo rolls stood up in the box and then put cables inside the loo rolls -keeps them neat and tidy and all in one box and usually easier to spot which one I need.

Need to get my head into gear and start re -going through my car boot stuff - weather been terrible so not been able to do one and it looks like I am moving out with so many boxes piled high in bedroom and hallway.
I think I need to go through it all and "downsize"the car boot stuff - and split into CS ,car boot, freegle and ebay and be strong enough to get rid of stuff actually out my house. No point decluttering cupboards etc if it doesn't actually make it out of the door!

Better get started.......but only after finishing my cuppa;)

  • Morning,

I am writing a list here for accountability.

    1. get rid of old work stuff, need a clean start for the new year. Feel terribly guilty about this as some of it is old work that never got given back but I cannot keep hold of it, new boss starting and I don't want any confusion or opportunity for her to have a go at me :(

    2. clean out Guinea pigs.
    3. Shed needs tidying
    4. Shelf unit upstairs
    5. other shelf unit in shed.

If I manage that I will be very happy.

and still feel guilty but hey, everyone fails sometime.

    Take care all

    xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
