The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

I have been ruthless today
One bin bag of clothing and bedding to the charity shop as well as a carrier bag full of bits and pieces and two large bags of shoes
Also listed a whole heap of things on free cycle and I have two bin bags to go to the dump as well as a selection of boxes and cardboard.
Now what I need is to get my OH to start decluttering his things, he is obsessed with keeping everything and he even owns more shoes than me . Little does he realise but I have, every couple of days, looked out a few things for him to sort through. I started with tools and now I am on to cables. Does anyone else have an OH who collects cables and widgets????Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Just back from holiday. As a way of saving weight on the return flight I used then binned:
- 7 pairs of pants
- 2 bras
- a pair of sandals (2 years old & ripped on the sides).
I also left behind 5 books (all from the CS).
DH also binned his old sandals & a pair of flip-flops.
We'll do the same next year.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

Mine built himself a HUGE shed complete with mains electric and running water. I suggested he moved in :rotfl:Here he stores all his widgets cables tools those useful screws and washers and WOOD lots and lots of bits of WOOD. When we inherited my Grandads shed who was a dedicated hoarder and keeper of stuff my OH was in his absolute element and decanted everything into his shed into the 'collectable and antique' section. I swear he goes in there just to admire it all. But you are much braver than me............... I wouldnt dare ditch anything:eek::)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Having done a lot of the downstairs and bathroom when my family were away the other week, I'm now moving onto my bedroom (round 2) as I'm moving out and starting uni in a few weeks (hopefully, grades dependant). 8 bags of stuff have gone to the charity shop over the past few weeks, which is great. Loads of recycling has gone too. Asking myself "Will I take this with me?" and "If I have no reason to take it with me, do I have any reasons to keep it?" seems to be working! Can't wait until I know for definite that I'm going and can actually start packing!0

I didnt do fantastically with DD1's bedroom the other day.
But i started! I split her room into 3 areas and i have sorted the wardrobe / chesk of drawers area of her bedroom. This mean all her clothes have been sorted which was an area on my declutter list. So off to cross that off my list.
Will get her bedroom done today.
I also need to look through the declutter areas i have crossed off. It's all very well i have sorted them but i need to make sure they are maintained in a suitable fashion. I decluttered and arrange the top of the fridge yet OH keeps dumping more stuff on there!Orange Fairy

I have just announced its D day in our household................. Do it Dump it Deal with it. DD2 is ecstatic........I worry about her sometimes
DD1 is glad to be at work although she has paid DD2 to clean out her pet mice for her. DD2, an aspiring vet, more than happy to oblige. Have banished OH to shed to sort his carp but only if he makes a frothy coffee first ( he is very good at it and a bit of a connessuer) and is on lunch duty ( not so very good at that and need practice
). OK Eb*y Oxf*m and Freegle here I come

I am decluttering a shelf at a time.
Did the vanity unit in the bath room the other day. Went to chuck out 2 bottles of foaming waterless shampoo. As it just does not do it for me.
I then thought hold the phone:rotfl:. I now have very stylish black foaming handwash dispenser in my bath room.
Have had another re-jig of the larder. Might be to with the 48 cartons of apple juice I bought today :rotfl:
