I am writing a list here for accountability.
1. get rid of old work stuff, need a clean start for the new year. Feel terribly guilty about this as some of it is old work that never got given back but I cannot keep hold of it, new boss starting and I don't want any confusion or opportunity for her to have a go at me
2. clean out Guinea pigs.
3. Shed needs tidying
4. Shelf unit upstairs
5. other shelf unit in shed.
If I manage that I will be very happy.
and still feel guilty but hey, everyone fails sometime.
Take care all

Spent about an hour in the shed (v brave re spiders *shudders*)
have cleared 8 bin bags of out of date schemes of work and work sheets plus general rubbish and stuff I had NO IDEA why it was there. I mean why keep broken hamster toys? WHY WHY?
I still have 3 bags to go through, but I am feeling lots better for having made a start.
I just off now to chuck the 8 bags in the tip.
see youlater

Buffy, I read the first post and thought 'sounds like one of my jobs...!' Then I read 'Schemes of work' and realised it was!
My main job now is as an e-tutor, everything online... no paperwork!
Which reminds me, bulk rubbish guys are coming and a big pile of stuff still needs to go outside the garden fence.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Bags in the tip, Lunch in my tummy and on to the next job!
*wonders how you get to be an e tutor* Hello Mcculloch xxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Sounds like a lot of us are in the mood for some major decluttering.
I've done the middle twos room today, and my goodness did it need doing! We have 2 bags of rubbish, a bag for a friend and a bag of recycling. Every drawer and cupboard has been done, still need to dust a bit but I am well and truly worn out. DH has sorted some paperwork out and ironed whilst we decluttered so all in alll a very good job completed.
The boys have cricket tonight, think I'll be resting.
Have a lovely evening, whatever your plans.

The poor Guinea pigs!!
I took 9 bags to the tip and reorganised the shed around the new (to the shed) shelf unit. My Mum has got the new shelf unit and is filling it up rapidly (!)
I have 3 bags of school work to get though and file/burn or shred and a box of paper work to sort as well. However first I need to go through my files so there is room to put the new stuff.
so much but dinner is ready so I have to shift

Arg! 74 pages. Sorry but I dont think I can recap that far. I know I started to follow but as my decluttering has become less and less, and I am more and more of a horder. As my recycling habits increase, the house is over flowing.
I even had a table and chairs from next door, that they were going to throw out. Its now under the window in my front room, and the folding table that was there is now in the kitchen. So I am squeezing more into the house and not less.
Am I the only one? It seems the more I want to declutter, the more comes in, and the more I want to save, the more I seem to spend?
I am going through a very ARGH moment! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
buffy - i too feel your pain on the teacher guilt front. my new school year resolution is to bring less carp home from school with me in the first place. Am currently filling a huge tesco bag for life of all the stuff that can go back and live in the huge cupboard in my classroom. it's not like i don't have sufficient storage space in work to leave it all there (will start tidying/decluttering/organising that once term starts up again).
i guess what i'm trying to say is don't beat yourself up - i'm yet to meet a single teacher whose home isnt full to the rafters of school related junk!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Took loads of bags to the dump today and I was horrified at the things others had thrown away. We freecyled or charity shopped anything that could be reused and recycled all that could be processed that way but at the dump there were loads of things in good condition that could be used by others being thrown away, it was upsetting seeing such waste. I am keen to declutter but I want to do so in an eco friendly way.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Sunday I continued with the clearout- went through DS2's bedroom, although its only a box room its amazing whats in there, 1 box of cars for car boot pile and assorted hot weels stuff, 1/2 CB filled and with books from DS1's room also and then went though the cupboards/ drawers and threw out about 4 carrier bags of rubbish and paper in recycling.0

I have been instructed by my 9 year old daughter to post the following as a way of helping us all declutter
. Here's what she suggests:
Go round the house with a carrier bag and pick up all the bits of paper that you don't need. If any are important, put them in a box :T.
Very helpful advice DD (!!!)....only I think now she expects me to actually do it!! Doh! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0
