I'm decluttering the house of the four of us for a week
Plus several large shopping bags of food etc! We're off to stay in a caravan at the coast and are also taking OH's grandparents, brother (21) and cousin (13)!! We did it last year and the kids had a great time, so we're all looking forward to it again. Not looking forward to all the washing and unpacking when we get home though, at least the house will stay tidy whilst we're away lol

I've just organised a pile of paperwork that has been staring at me for ages. Simple little job that took all of 30 minutes. It's a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of my decluttering mission but when your having a CBA day, even achieving something small is better than nothing at all :j better still, I now feel energised to go on and tackle something elseknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

DH went to tip and recycling bank, also took some gardening rubbish, said he's a bit worried that he is going so often that they might think he is a comercial user and charge him! He has taken down 2 broken velux blinds, the window needs sanding down, re-varnishing then we need some new blinds, I will need to price some up, they are expensive. I'm now cleaning the decluttered dining room and it looks rather bare but feels so organised, everything in its place, for now at least.
Well off to put the chairs back round the table, floor should be dry now.
Have a good weekend everyone,pavlovs_dog well done on sorting some paperwork, we have still got that to do.

Getting through the ironing, huge wodges of OOD teaching paperwork gone and going. Why do I hang on to this stuff for so long, I wonder? I read somewhere that professional cleaners rated teachers as having the untidiest houses and I can well believe it...
I bought some really nice white painted wooden skirt hangers from Wilko's to encourage me to get things ironed and away. I usually use them for jeans rather than skirts, but they are very well made - I seem to break the trouser hangers given with purchases very easily.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Had a pretty productive week decluttering wise.
Had Thursday off and filled a sack full of shredding. Various things we hadn't sorted then some old bank statements and the like. I know I now have a sack of shredding but the worms work through this.
Bin full of paper recycling too and a bit of rubbish gone out.
All paperwork apart from a little bit not sure what OH wants to do with it filed (last done 6 months ago by the looks of it oops!) so almost empty intrays and stuff from round house gone.
Found several things I need to sort which I had forgotten about - water bill sorted now (they'd randomly increased direct debits with no meter readings) and other things on to do list for this week.
Went to see my parents for the weekend as they're on holiday a couple of hours away (live 250 miles away). Took 2 fossils I found in my clearing up which I don't want but thought she might for school and she took them, then some photos to them and posted out to others too (but not in the house very long). They got us a couple of pressies but all small useful and one of mine is smellies so use up able!
I took 5 items of clothing to Oxfam on Friday lunch and got an M&S token (they were good quality stuff) - sadly wrapping paper was 89p a roll and we need some so stocked up with some ins.
Then went to M&S and got 2x PJs, 4x pants, 6x socks and 3 x tights and saved with the voucher. Have 2 pairs of pjs & 6 pairs of socks going to textile recycling in return and really low on tights already and pants having a sort as they come through the wash. So this shop wil be stuff neutral and as old summer PJs were 3 years old and I wear them a lot at weekends etc if I don't have to go out I was quite impressed with that shop. Gradually going through OHs pants too as they come through the wash - 2 pairs in textile recycling bag yesterday!
Then took 2 dresses I bought the other week back today as decided they were too long and got a credit note instead. At least things I won't wear aren't clogging up my wardrobe!
Amazingly home every night this week, all weekend and planning a day off during the week too as I've got a lot of holiday to use so have written a list and hope to keep up the decluttering.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I've been trying to declutter on and off all this year, but recently I seem to have been doing quite well! I had a stack of things to take to the charity shop, and then I suddenly thought about listing them on ebay - so far I've sold about 15 things and made just over £75! Why haven't I done this sooner?! Hopefully I'll get so addicted to selling things it'll just be me and my boyfriend left in our flat by Christmas :rotfl:0
