I also cannot wait to have the recycling bin emptied next week and for me this is tomorrow. I have loads of empty bottles, newspapers and cardboard to fill the bin up with tomorrow night. Apart from that, I have not managed to do a lot this week but feel more inspired to do more next week when I will tackle our guest bedroom since my mum is coming next Sunday to stay with us for a week.

Good luck to you all with your de-cluttering.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

  • Think I have come up with a brilliant decluttering tip. Advertise on Freecycle or equivalent that you have 2/3 bags/boxes of car boot sale type items - then when you get replies fill the bags/boxes and pass to the greedy s*d that wants to make money out of you!!
  • This thread is awesome... I'm in the process of decluttering right now! So much stuff to get rid of in our little two bedroom flat!

I should really have taken a photograph of our "study" before I started throwing things out, but I'll take one now...

It is a great idea putting all unwanted stuff together and advertising it as car booty, it's quick as you have found out:) - easy way of not having to fill landfill/bins etc - not having to use the car or public transport to take them to charity shop/tip,taking up your own precious time - you just hand them over to someone on your doorstop(if they turn up on time:cool:), they be willing to use their petrol to get to you and then sit in front of their car boot on a Sunday morning come rain or shine - and if they make a few pounds out of it good luck to them I say - if you don't like the idea of someone else making money out of things you no longer have use for, maybe ringing up a local charity to ask if they would collect it instead???? or have a car boot yourself or a yard sale???- at least its got rid of quick and its no longer cluttering up your house and you can stand back and admire your lovely tidy home :)

Unlike my house at the moment - 100 things in June went down the pan. Was given two huge bags of clothes from colleague - including Ja*e No**an dress, Miss Sel***dges tops,Sup**dry T Shirts - DD 2 & 3 very happy plus I was given what was left! So need to sort through wardrobe again.

Plus just come back from a weekend camping trip and am going through all the stuff as I speak, getting rid of broken, cracked camping gear as I go ( afraid nothing going on freecycle today though, all pretty useless,ie leaking water carrier that kind of thing)

haven't posted for a while - but attic is almost empty - moved to a storage unit so I can do a partial conversion and decide what comes back (and I plan to be ruthless)

and the shed/summerhouse was done today - stuff to a new home (chairs that they can use at a party) and stuff to the tip feel lighter xxx

Not really a declutter (well maybe) I took one of the cool bags out of the boot of my car & I've put in the picnic plates, bowls, plastic cutlery & a plastic tablecloth that were all lurking in various places. So now I shall everything we need for a picnic IN ONE PLACE ;) I did manage to bin an old wire basket but that's all - still 'every little helps' :)

Hello, sorry I haven't really posted since my initial enthusiasm a month ago, but have been continuing on with little babysteps ( oooh, is that for a different thread? !:o).

I had a big day out with my DD yesterday and when we came back my OH proudly showed me 2 decluttered kitchen cabinets. Bless him , he had gone through and chucked all the germ ridden baby cups, plates, spoons etc that I couldn't bear to part with for sentimental reasons. (Our youngest is 6 :o). I wasn't upset, just relieved. Although rather embarrassed when he came home early from work today and saw me going through the wheely bin. Just out of curiosity, honest!:rotfl:Seeing as DD's broken Little Mermaid cup was one of the items I guess it was all justified. She is 15 by the way.

I had a day off today as I have built up too much flexi so I decided to tackle the bedroom. I have bagged up 5 binliners worth of my clothes, and also bed linen - divided up ready for either the charity shop or textile bank. I have kept back a few of the more upmarket bits for ebay, but realistically know if I keep too much for there I will never get round to it, so would rather a charity benefitted from the stuff.

As a result I also rebagged a couple of recent purchases with tags ready to go back to the shop as they obviously aren't needed.

I also tackled the surfaces of my chest of drawers x2, and binned /recycled / cleaned and put back all the toileteries , jewellery, dust, clothes tags, receipts, pens, random piece of Hunchback of Notre Dame Circus playset etc. Also looked through my scary toileteries stash to remind myself that I HAVE MORE THAN MY LOCAL BOOTS DOES.

So, a small dent has been made. Best of luck everyone for the week. Lurleene. x
