Right I'm doing FLYlady this week to help bring some order into the house. Today's its the master bedroom. Will report back on decluttering from this room later

Quick update. In April I took an industrial unit so I could move all the stock out of the house into there, and guess what, I've not moved anything but bought loads more and half filled it already.

hi all, hope all okay and getting their, same old carp here for me.
still trying to declutter whats left of the few odds and sods knocking about, plus trying to keep on top of keeping my place tidy and an eye out for reasonably priced practical storage solutions that i can work with.
hope all okay with everyone?0 -
I'm still doing stuff so may add another post later if I get significantly more done. However, progress today:
Charity:
2 hats, 2 scarves, 14 books, 5 CDs, 1 reuseable cloth bag (I've had it for at least five years and it's never been used), 2 shirts, pair of sandals, decorative candle (still in wrapper), unworn thermal vest (wrong size), 3 soft toys
Bin/recycle/shred:
2 pairs slippers (completely unwearable - holey, perished soles, etc.), broken coathanger, bottle of essential oil (old), Lush deodorant (old and extremely hard), various old receipts/clothes labels and train tickets
Other:
- rearranged contents of boxes in the garage so there's one less box there now
- moved yarn stash to spare room cupboard and unit that previously held yarn stash now holds various hobbies-related items and tools
I've come to the conclusion that our flat is too small. I've got rid of so much (including a few things I regret) and it's impossible. Also, no amount of decluttering will remove the fact that the bedroom is too small to open the drawers in the chest of drawers fully because the bed is in the way. We've already arranged our bedroom furniture optimally, but I wonder if the developers ever considered that occupants might want to put more than just a bed in the 'Master bedroom' Sorry, rant over, for now.
The pile of bulging carrier bags for charity has swelled to 12 and will no doubt be bigger by the weekend, so on Saturday we'll start carting it to the charity shop.0 -
Today I cleared all the ironing that has been piled on the armchair for a couple of weeks, all now put away, did 2 loads of washing (still on the washing line as it poured with rain this afternoon) and shredded the pile of paperwork that has been on top of the shredder for at least a week.
I won't have time to do much for the next week or so, as my dad has finally got his retirement flat from the council, and will hopefully be moving next week, so I need to help him get his house cleaned, pack his stuff up, and get settled in after the move. Luckily we had a major clearout of his clutter just over a year ago, while he was in hospital, so there isn't as much stuff as there might have been, but there's still a lot of junk and plenty of cleaning to do. He needs some curtains, so I will either make him some with the material I have in the cupboard, or give him some old curtains that I don't use anymore if they're the right size, and either way that will clear a bit more of my clutter.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Did a few decluttering bits yesterday, including turning some scrap paper into a shopping list/telephone message notepad.
OUT
- 2x ebay parcels
- 3x large boxes of cardboard for recycling
- Empty plastic shampoo bottle, Recycled
I've decided to look at my decluttering mission differently.
We hope to move house in the next year or 2 (maybe sooner and at short notice if DH needs to relocate for work).
So I simply MUST get rid of junk now and ask myself - would I really want to fill a removal van with this stuff? If the answer is no, I must use it up or recycle/charity shop it/throw it away.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Im still messy. Ive been a bit under the weather this week and all Ive managed to do is a tiny bit, going to have another go at it all over the next few days, but do have 5 carriers filled for charity and some more ebay listings so its all small steps. Ive hoovered and wiped round innumerous times however a 14 month old with a rusk can de clean in less than ten seconds!Trying to shift that debt!0

I need to make a start today with some decluttering. I need the inspiration I find on here of people just getting on with it. I can spend so much time planning what I intend to do that I do nothing. I live in a tiny house and am totally overwhelmed by my stuff , the mess. I can hardly see the carpet and moving from one side of the room to the other is like negotiating an obstacle course.
I'm going to start on the kitchen this morning. If I do no more than wash up and throw out some rubbish it will be a start.
I'll check in later and if I've managed the kitchen I'll maybe think of another area of the house.:AWonderfulLife:A0 -
I have decided that I am going to a car boot sale next Saturday so I need to declutter the bedroom and the storage cupboard..
