hi everyone, i have done well with my mini challenge, got rid of 2 bags of clothes to charity shop and several bags of general rubbish - i think i got 10 items alone from clearing out my purse and transferring to the nice new one i got at christmas - old receipts, raffle tickets etc. i am very impressed with the capsule wardrobes - i have packed away all winter clothes and tried to be ruthless but find it so difficult - must try harder!trying hard to be debt free by the end of 20100

my decluttering is at a standstill
i've got lots of stuff up for sale but nothing's shifting. I looked into a car boot but the pitch was £15, i can't believe it. I almost did ne a year ago at the same place, the pitch was a £5. I was pregnant and not really upto it though.
Becky - good luck with your new house. I'm so jealous, I would love to move somewhere bigger x0 -
slow start here but today i decluttered
two borrowed books back to their original owner - only about 4 years after being leant them.
single duvet to sister for her kids.
planning on doing a fair bit more tomorrow though0 -
Well, I have decluttered all of the BBQ food apart from some left overs which we will eat this week (salads and the like). Went and spent some birthday money yesterday on fabric in Bristol. I am making a quilt for our 10th wedding anniversary in 6 weeks time. So really need to pull my finger out and get on with that.
I bought fabric to make DD a pettiskirt and have been sewing that for a lot of today. There's so much left to sew that it's going to take an awful long time to do!
I started clearing DS's bedroom this evening because it was shriekworthy when I went in there earlier. So far, I've filled 1/2 a carrier with rubbish and 1/2 for charity. Have sorted his pens so that they are now in the slot on his desk so hopefully he can use them a bit easier. His storage is going to finish me off I think! I really need to get it sorted so that he can actually put his stuff away properly. Once his is done, I'll move into DD's gawd, that's going to proper finish me off!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
I never managed to pack 1 box yesterday but have packed 2 boxes instead today.
I have cleaned the bathroom using a conditioner from a hotel, I have around 15 small bottles of schampoo, conditioner and shower gel from various hotels. I cannot wait to use them up in order to declutter the bathroom. I have promised myself once they are gone I wont be collectiong anymore. Still got loads of shredding to do which I hope to finish off during the week.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Have been bad at posting here but having decided I want a partial loft conversion decluttering is now serious...:D
Three car loads to the tip and one to the hospice shop in the last week :T
but so much more to do I feel exhausted just thinking about it ...;)If you can't take responsibility for it, you'll always be a victim.

just listed 10 items on ebay so more clutter will hopefully be gone by the end of the week. Need to tackle my paperwork at some point, but such a huge job keep putting it off.trying hard to be debt free by the end of 20100

Not a lot of decluttering this weekend and although I've managed to make a start on preparing the bedroom floor for painting I ran out of steam fairly quickly.
House looks like a tip but I've been feeling "under the weather" today so after hours of feeling bad for not doing anything I've admitted defeat and am going to have an early night & try to tackle it when I've got more energy.

Hi All
After making lots of big decluttering plans which I posted on here earlier in the week, it sort of fell flat after that, due to working, and catching up with family\friends each night and just being really busy. But... I got my mojo back yesterday. I have managed to get two bags of clothes ready for CS tomorrow morning, and also, wait for it...
80 books for CS
66 items of glassware for CS
24 items of crockery for CS
8 items of crockery - to mate for work kitchen
2 books - to mate
It's sad that I counted them I know, but it made me feel like I had really achieved something. My kitchen cupboards are immaculate (well inside anyway!). We now have far less choice of plates\cups\glasses etc, but that just means less dirty ones to pile up because we will have to keep washing and reusing them.
I also tackled my pan cupboard, and roped my hubby in to do our "messy" drawer. At the moment every drawer is a messy drawer but this is the main one in the kitchen where everything small and with no home got dumped. Its now clean and sorted, and we bought a cutlery drawer liner and it now only contains scissors, sellotape, pens, batteries, a torch and a couple of screwdrivers.
We also took 4 bags of general rubbish to the tip.
Still got a mountain to climb but at least I fell I am on the way.
The most embarassing part of all this, is a while ago I bought myself a decluttering book, but lost it in the house within all the clutter.
I have found the book again, and if it's to be believed everyone on this thread should now have some luck coming our way, thanks to our efforts. :rotfl:Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -
I didn’t do anything much yesterday, apart from doing a couple of loads of washing, but we went to a car boot sale in the morning, and found a shade for my table lamp, (which was on top of my lounge unit for years after I broke the original shade, and was recently put in the spare room while I decided whether to keep it or get rid), now I have a new shade it is in the lounge being used, instead of just gathering dust, and the shade was only 50p!
Today I emptied a huge cardboard display unit (the type that shops have to display big new release videos/dvds), which DS has had on top of his bookcase for a few years with his videos in, most of the videos have now gone but he’s insisted on keeping it so far, however I finally managed to persuade him to give it up, as we don’t have room to keep it (and he won’t have room in his flat until the 12th of never, lol!), and once it was empty OH took it to the recycling centre. I also took all DS’s books off his bookcase, and put most of them in a box and the larger, heavier ones in the cupboard which he took his DVDs out of last week. I then washed the bookcase, and sorted some paperwork in the bottom drawer of his chest of drawers, found some more calendars and magazines which he ok’d me to get rid of a few weeks ago, so they are now in the recycling box. This evening I decluttered the pocket in my laptop bag, getting rid of a few pieces of paperwork, and a few other bits of crap.
Either tomorrow or Wednesday, I’m hoping to sort through some of my books, which are in a box in the cupboard in our room, and hopefully get rid of some and put the ones I’m keeping onto the now empty bookcase.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs
