32 x pieces of junk mail etc  i cleared the shelf under my coffee table

I have read that you should open your post over a bin. So you deal with it straight away.

I sorted out the desk and found and open letter from 2009:eek: so you can see how often we do it. And found some vouchers that are 4 months out of date. Only £4 but still the principle of the thing.

Completed day 3 of my challenge :j. cf 3 items from yesterday so :

    OUT
    4. Trouser press left over from previous owner - left outside
    5. Board game - CS
    6. Board game - friend
    7. old make-up - bin
    8. glass - cs
    9. mug - cs
    10. pens - cs
    11. Batteries - recycling
    12. too short shorts (DS) - cs
    13. Candles - cs
    14. jewellry set - cs
    15. broken tin opener - bin

    IN
    clothes hangers

I feel that I'm really starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel - most of the remaining large items of clutter don't belong to me. Some time ago I agreed to sell some stuff for my cousin. I got through a lot but these are the remaining, hard to shift, stuff. I really need to do something about them - either sell / give back / or get his permission to get rid of them.

The other big job is to paint my bedroom floor - I'm intending to make a start on it this week - even if I just manage the preparation

    Even better:
Open it next to the recycling bin which is kept next to the shredder; items with addresses and identifying details can go straight into the shredder, the ordinary stuff into the recycling bin and the 2% that's of any use can be sorted out however you like!

Now come on that is being organised:rotfl:

I struggle to do my shredding. Think we have done to much. As my shredder is making funny noises.

Today while sorting out my drawers ;) I found shop and cash point receipts from 2004/2006:eek:

Like I really need to keep them. We only moved here 6 years ago and we still have telephone and utility bills going back to when moved in to our flat in 1998:eek:

Right.. an update on my earlier post

    In
Bedside Cabinet - DD bedroom (bought by DD with easter money)
Bedside Lamp - DD bedroom (bought by DD with easter money)
2 x PSP games - (bought by DS with easter money)
    1 x School Skirt
    2 x Boys Shorts
    3 x Boys Undies
1 x Book (me being naughty)

    Out

Old mattress - to tip (from carport)
Broken kids swing - to tip (from carport)
Broken kids hammock - to tip (from carport)
2 bags of general rubbish from kids bedrooms - to tip
2 further bags of general rubbish - to wheely bin (now full, which were done after trip to tip and I couldnt face going again :o)

    Done

I have washed some soft toys to go to CS on Saturday
I have started a bag of clothing to go to CS on Saturday
I have sorted a carrier bag of old paperwork to be shredded at work
I have washed\dried\ironed a white wash and dark wash, which means all school uniform and work clothes are done for the week

My main targets for this week

Put all glasswear through dishwasher, and take all excess to CS on Saturday
Sort all other crockery\mugs etc and take all excess to CS on Saturday
Keep tackling the rest of the carrier bags of paperwork and shredding (my worst habit - there are many bags :(
Iron the next dark load (currently drying on maiden)
Iron the next white load (still in washer)

I am so pleased I have got some stuff done today, and I know that I can be quite lazy and easily distracted, so putting stuff on here so publicly might make me actually stick at it.
    Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once. :D

I can beat that, I sorted through a folder containing some old recipes cut from magazines last week, (got rid of a lot of them as never been used) and found some coupons for money off baby wipes, they didn't have a date on them but my 'baby' will be 30 in July, lol!

I have receipts dating back to the 90's, lol, I still have my very first utility bills from 1984, and I only got rid of my BT service agreement and bills a couple of weeks ago, we've been with Virgin for at least 10 years !

Last week I spent all my spare time sorting out the spare room, as I had DS and his GF coming over for the weekend, and they wouldn't have had anywhere to sleep if I hadn't got it sorted. It still looks more like a warehouse than a bedroom, with all the boxes stacked in there, but it looks a lot neater and I have got rid of a few more bits. I've got a box and 2 bags of stuff for CS, recycled loads more paperwork, (and got the ok from DS to get rid of all his school paperwork, which amounts to 2 huge carrier bags of stuff, so will go through that tomorrow) the huge pile of DS's magazines have now actually left the house, and I took a carrier bag of toiletries and DVDs to DS's flat along with 2 bin bags of sheets, pillowcases and a couple of quilt covers.

Unfortunately he had 5 bags of DVDs, CDs and games to bring back here for me to put on ebay for him:eek:! Luckily while he was here he managed to sort through some of the stuff he'd left here when he moved out, and found loads of stuff that he wants to ebay, and he also took lots of stuff back with him, so it was still more out than in!

So far this morning I have managed to throw away 2 carrier bags of rubbish and have cleared one of the sides in the kitchen. There will be more to go later but I am struggling with the state of the house as it's a terrible mess. Today will be mainly focussed on putting stuff away where it ought to be and cleaning grimness away than decluttering out of the house.
I would like to finally finish painting my downstairs toilet this week as I have some paint sitting waiting to be used and I want to throw away the tub!
    Such a mess though!
I am glad that I braved the cold this morning and hung the washing on the line because it should be dry now and I can hang out the next load. This means I can get the last load on the line. It's now lovely and sunny so it will dry quicker now :)
    Happy housework everybody :)

:) Well, I have parted with a huge dictionary/ thesaurus which I've had since 1988 when I won it for being a smart*rse and have dragged from home to home across the country. And, boy, was it a monster, nearly 5 lb and 4 inches thick and I can find all that stuff online but still had to be stern with myself.

:) And another teapot. Have culled 2 teapots recently, given to me by others and not of the right sizes or to my taste, but they'll be just right for someone.

Both off to the c.s. in the one bag and good riddance.
