Got straight up there in the loft before it got too hot up there. Took me 40 minutes rather than the 10 I'd aimed for but some were large-ish and a bit difficult to get down.

    1. Portable TV - left outside house
    2. Chair bed - horrible thing left over by previous occupants - bin
    3. Board game - cs
    4. Belt - cs
    5. halloween item - cs
    6. ditto
    7. tangled Halloween wig - bin
    8. unspeakably disgusting gel gems from windows (incl. dead insects ) - bin
    9. Broken computer with hard-drive & battery removed - left outside for parts
    10. light pull - cs
    11. light pull - cs
    12. Big Ted - cs
    13. Phyllis - cs

Big Ted & Phyllis were childhood toys of mine & have lived in various lofts for literally decades - I feel it's time for them to be set free and played with again - although Phyllis can sometimes seem that she's watching you which can feel a little unnerving.

Achieved target for today + 3 items which I will carry forward - so tomorrow's target will be 7 items...

Elaine - sorry to hear about your tortoise :(

Starting on my major declutter as I'm downsizing off my flat and going back home to mum and dad, mainly as I'm not too well and havent been for a while.

    So, so far:
    Uni stuff sorted/binned
Bag of clothes to charity box
Toiletries and books starting to be packed

Still need to check through the wardrobe, sort coats, check shoes...start packing books/DVDs..see what I can sell/charity shop

I do it all because I'm scared.

Thanks for your sympathy with regard to our tortoise dying.I cant believe how upset it has left us all.my 8 yr old acted like he didnt care yesterday, but came down this morning sobbing:( :( we dont know how old she was, as she came from someone who got her from an old lady.she did have an old battered looking shell . i hope she enjoyed her 5 years with us.

Today I have been decluttering some more and did another couple of drawers. Also did the cereal cupboard in the kitchen.Cant believe how many boxes we had,of which some will never be eaten.I love this gradual sorting and cleaning. It does lift me to know i have some sort of control in that area of my life. Still hoping to decide what to do with the collection of odd socks that i mentioned earlier.Great idea about the hobby horse.I think i will have to shut my eyes and throw the majority though.Hope everyone has a happy sunday.x

evening everyone how are you getting along?? i have kept up with my mini easter break challenge. Been quite easy so far as i have got rid of things like rubbish from my (many!) handbags and a carrier bag of rubbish from the car. Going to get a bit harder from tomorrow as i will actually be tackling cupboards and draws - my wardrobe in particular is a hiding place for all my clutter. On the surface my house is clutter free - but dig deeper and its a not so good.

:( sorry to hear about your tortoise, it goes to show how much pets become part of the family.

I went to a car boot today, which has proven counterproductive to my decluttering efforts. I got some fabulous bargains though, so i will have to throw myself into decluttering again.

    Out:
DS2's pushchair. I'm really sad about this one, I love it so much and he looks so comfy in it. Unfortunately, our house isn't big enough to house it when it's up and it's too big when it's folded. Advertised on local and national websites :(

Two carriers of books, going to cs on tuesday

Loads of baby clothes. Again, I would love to keep them all but space is prohibitive. I've kept my favourite bits in case I ever convince OH that number 3 is a good idea.

The twilight saga books, i've read them a few times, probably won't look at them again. Up for sale locally.

Lots of easter eggs, will be disappearing tomorrow most likely ;)

:( sorry to hear about your tortoise elaine, we had one as a family pet for many years, until he didn't come out of hibernation one year.

OH and I tackled some of our spare room yesterday. One big box for charity, and another for recycling - probably about 60 things or so. Hoping to tackle some more today, we have 3 massive boxes and one bin liner full of baby stuff, so plan is to reduce it to one box and one bin liner ! Got quite ruthless with clothes I have been storing 'until I lose weight'. A few now fit me, the rest are for ebay or charity. OH binned lots of his college notes, after 17 years of not being read it was time to go!

    yesterday was an off day.

So not much done. But it looks worse now than before:mad:

The only room that is sort of ok is our bedroom.

    Any how so far

    In:

    Nothing

    Out:

    Nothing

    Pending:

Bag of rags that has just got bigger. Bag of rubbish. Half a bin liner of shredding. Need to fill it before I chuck it.

Not really in the mood for decluttering today.

    See how I feel later.

    Yours

    Hey All

Love the thread, I am a long time lurker, and so thought I should finally say hi and be brave enough to join in properly and get my house cleared.

I work full time, and have not not felt that well lately so the house has really got on top of me, and when I look around my house seems really small, cluttered with no storage at all, and I find it all really depressing.

However, when I visit my next door neighbour, or my best mates house round the corner (who have the exact same house at me), I can see that I need to just face the fact that it's totally down to me and my family and the varying cr*p we are filling our house with rather than the size of the house itself (3 bed semi) which should be fine. :o

We have all been out shopping most of the morning and so have lots of necessary "ins", so I will list these now and add my "outs" once I have had a good go at the house this afternoon.

    In
Bedside Cabinet - DD bedroom (bought by DD with easter money)
Bedside Lamp - DD bedroom (bought by DD with easter money)
2 x PSP games - (bought by DS with easter money)
    1 x School Skirt
    2 x Boys Shorts
    3 x Boys Undies
1 x Book (me being naughty)

    Out

    Will update later
    Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once. :D
