having almost reached retirement I find myself with masses of equipment and materials from my work in teaching craft. I am finding it scary to de-clutter in case I am asked to do another workshop and although the clutter did not cost a fortune it did take a long time to collect for the classes.
I have a front room full of bags and boxes of craft stuff and feel in a real panic as I don't know how to start dealing with it.
I am sure some of you will have dealt successfully with a similar problem - praps you can help - Please?
in 2004 when I went into business in the pub trade, I gave up all my sewing things. Except my machines, and a box of favourite fabrics, my favourite pattern books and a shoe box of patterns.
I took two van loads to the local College.! There was rolls of fabrics, after rolls of fabrics, boxes of scraps, off cuts you name it I donated it.
But although occasionally I wanted something I had given away, I have managed to amass masses of things all over again!.:D
I have now once again got a huge stash of fabrics, clothing to recyce etc, and may have to get sewing day and night to use it all up, and declutter it!:o
I am thinking of starting up a sewing business at the moment, and hoping that i will use them in that venture. Just doing all the necessary study, research etc etc at the moment.:TWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Took part in this thread last year but wish to join the fight against clutter once more this week in wallpaper and paint to decorate kitchen also a kitchen trolley to help with pots and pans etc.
Out today one large carboard box, one toilet seat, two old dining chairs, broken telly that caput in January and eight bin bags of rubbish. The car was full on the way to the tip. Yet only seems to have cleared a small amount the battle goes on.2016 £31138 Debt free ?

I need to join you guys again before i drown in clutter. My office is especially bad at the moment but the whole house except the bathroom needs a good clear out. Stuff just seems to get moved from place to place.
Ds2 is really into making things at the moment and is always raiding the recycling bags for things to use for his creations. It wouldn't be so bad but he can make up to 10 things a day sometimes more. He's always got glue and scissors nearby. i've tried to tell him that he can only have 2 creations at any one time because they were taking over the house. I feel bad for chucking them out but when he's not around i have to go round with the recycling bags getting rid. Of course he then takes the stuff back out to make more. I love rubbish collection day.
Today as well as general tidying i've cleared out 2 drawers from the dresser in the living room.
Today efforts
In
Nothing :j
Out
Huge amount of cardboard & paper from ds2's creations & drawings Dead flowers garden waste
Quality streets tin with no lid from Ds2's creations
Yogurt pot from Ds2's creations ( i'm sensing a theme here )
Ripped black bag from holiday packing
4 magazines i took to read on holiday
4 Birthday cards
Loads of junk mail, envelopes, leaflets etc
Fake charity clothes bag
Packaging for my phone
Pending
7 books for either my Sisters or CS0 -
Painted under the stairs cupboard :j- could do with another coat of paint but can't help but feel life is too short to worry about that.
Had visitors yesterday afternoon & evening and sent them home with a few bits so yesterday:
IN
Nothing
OUT
earrings - friend
bird-feeder - friend (for the nursery she works in)
sun-hat- friend
bathroom mirror -left outside house
steam generator iron - left outside house - still working - had it for 2 years but it's so bulky it puts me off ironing (doesn't take a whole lot to do this tbh) needed a new water tank which I found out costs as much as a new ordinary steam iron so I've decided to replace it
Alfiecat - I'm in for challenge but it'll be just 3 days for me as back to work on Tuesday (though I'm working from home next week :j).
Mineallmine - haven't seen you around - are you ok?
By the way - did anyone see last night's "decluttering" episode of "The Middle" ? Hilarous - particularly Sue's unwillingness to part with her heated curlers... ROTLHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

Have read through a good few pages, I was going to read the whole thing but I'm motivated to go do some decluttering NOW!!
had a big kitchen declutter last weekend but sure I can find more stuff. I like Alfiecats idea of 10 items per day.
Going to start now - aiming for 10 items on EBAY ( to pay for storage boxes) and 10 for the recycling bin or c/s
Thanks all for inspiring me :T:T0 -
right back gain.
Have another bag of rags for the CS.
Second load of washing in the machine. Once dry means winter fleeces and coats can go away.
Have even boxed up the winter bed linen and it is now in the cupboard.
Husband is shredding again. And I already have lost my P60 that I got a few days ago  I know where I thought I put it. But it is not there.
And if you are de cluttering please wear shoes. Yesterday and today I dropped something on my foot. One foot is sporting a nice bruise and the other is missing small amount of top skin
