Hurrah finally I'm back to it
So over the weekend
OUT
Coat
hat box
pile of magazines
top
trousers
old reel
mismatched plastic boxes (still don't need any more!)
remote plane
16 boxes with nothing in them (don't ask!)
5 old jars
2 wash bags
various old papers
broken shoes
What can be recycled has or if good enough to the charity shop
Feel like I'm on top of it again£112121.02 10 Years and counting!Target in 2011 £22K /£10646.97 DFD Feb 201742Lbs /23 Down 19 to go!:shocked:So now I just need to keep going!Nearly half way through the year and I'm still here0 -
Have just crawled back out from under DD2 bed - think I have been under there for what seems like days but probably has been an hour or so - small room little place to put things except under the bed.
Anyway stuff found either binned, recycled or put back in place including
17 non matching socks
3 pairs of matching socks
9 decent hairbrushes
6 hair slides/pins
1 memory stick(hurrah thought I lost this 2 year ago!)
1 unopened tin of chicken soup still in date??? (I would have given her this for her tea but since she is now veggie for past year think this would have been cruel)
1 extension hair thingy
3 magazines
2 pairs slippers
1 hot water bottle & cover
1 half empty medicine bottle(out of date June 2008)
1 half pot of magnolia paint (which is ok) from when her sister painted the room 4 years ago!
Yes it has been a long time since I went under there- think I need a break from all the dust - it was disgusting, but glad i did it.
Oh and I did the top of the wardrobe this morning too! A few bits to the memory boxes and the rest returned as am not sure which soft toys she wants to keep.
Off for a cuppa now then back to it.

OH took the small coinage to the Coinstar machine this morning, only to discover it's out of order. It's the only one in a convenient location (otherwise we have to take the bus/train to get to one). Argh! An unexpected late birthday cheque arrived for me yesterday. so some of that will go towards the camera lens. Decluttering is non-existent just now - I had several terrible nights sleep and although I slept better last night I think it'll take a few days to get back to feeling like I have some energy.
Just quickly before I read back; The coinstar machines take 4%. Why not bung all of your shrapnel in the self service tills next time you need to pop into do a small shop? That way, you get to use ALL of your money. I have been known to go in with pounds and pounds worth of coppers but I do only do it at quiet times.
ETA: That's what happens when you reply before you read to the end!
Yay for the found passport!
Well, I haven't actually had any OUTs exactly but I have cleared all the washing today and the house is now tidy again downstairs. Kids have new scooters so we will be going down the seafront tonight for a scoot along the front. Lovely
I have also managed to get DD to part with some of her old grooty undies so they are in the recycling bin ready for Friday.
Will try to get on with some more decluttering done in the 3 days between the bank holidays.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Evening all
just a comment about the above post...I use my small change in Mr T's self checkout especially the 5ps. Its amazing how quick it all goes in and adds up.
Well folks. Been a very busy little:p spring bunny today. Have been chucking out and cleaning since 12.30 today.
I have never seen so much dust and dirt in a long time.
Finished youngest son's room today as he has gone on school trip overnight so I was able to finish it without screaming at him:D Lucky boy he wasn't here
Did our gym and the amount of dust in there was incredible. Must be the treadmill attracts the dust more...piles of it. Chucked bits not needed anymore. Tools put back to their rightful place...been lying there since new treadmill came at Christmas:o
Hit main bedroom...chucked alot of papers empty bottles cleaned windows and did same previous rooms too..boy they were dirty:o
Our wee bathroom got a go over too and mat is in washing machine.
Dusted and washed main hall and stairs and living room.
Done mountains of washing and got them all dried outside today. What a great day for the clothes line.
sorted all these clothes(came out of youngest sons room)...into what is for friend..charity s... and ebay.
Have my eye on big bathroom tomorrow...boy it needs it ...and kitchen dining room and sun room too. I'll have lost a few pounds by tomorrow :rotfl:
Never seen so much rubbish in all my life ... I need to get my act together and make sure it doesnt build up like this again.
also cleared another 3 drawers in kitchen....some rubbish in those I am ashamed to say:o
havent been done in years.
so I am on a roll and all has to be done by tomorrow night if possible as need thursday to get packed for going away at easter...saying that eldest son coming home to house sit:rotfl:, so need to stock up on some nice eats for him. So glad I have the energy to do these things as it was'nt very long ago I was too depressed to do anything:)
take care all and thank you all for your posts ... they are a great help
God bless all:A"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"C. S. Lewis

Not sure whether i'm winning at the minute with decluttering, as things seem to be coming in just as much as going out! I have now agreed to take some sheets & blankets my mam has found in her decluttering efforts :rotfl:She is coming tomorrow to help me sort things out for the big furniture swap/sale on Sunday.
But I am proud of myself - have actually hoovered the entrance hall & stairs & living room today :T(grime decluttered!) Yesterday, I decluttered some of the post/papers that get stuck in the entrance hall. (found a missing bag in the process!) and have slightly decluttered the understairs cupboard - one old saucepan, and a few plastic bags. There is also a big black bag of papers waiting to be burnt.
some things from the diningroom have been moved -either on the way upstairs or to the living room,so slightly more room is appearing,.(well in the dining room the living room is much fuller ) will be glad of the help tomorrow.

This thread has really given me a much-needed kick up the derriere so I'd like to say a big THANKYOU for sharing your experiences. I live in a tiny flat and have to be strict re possessions just to keep life bearable but after 5 + years without moving, things had been getting a little too cosy in a few nooks and crannies, IYKWIM. I'm on the warpath now....there is nowhere to hide.
At the weekend, I did one of my once-a-year chores which is to have the cooking tins out of the pan compartment at the base of my stove, vacuum it out, wipe clean, clean all the pans and replace after drying carefully in the oven.
I had a lightbulb moment; some of these things, the ones at the bottom of the pile, are totally unused and just crowd the others and only see light of day for the annual wash and brush up. Doh! So, I have downsized to what I actually do use which has meant 3 cake tins going to Mum (2 came from her anyway) and 2 have gone to the c.s.
Off the premises in the past few days to the c.s;
3 Pyrex oven dishes, as new, various shapes and sizes.
2 dozen hole bun tins
a necklace
3 pillowcases
a towel rail
4 drinking glasses
unwanted and unused gift
an empty but very attactive gift box.
5 CD cases
a cushion
There's lots more to be reviewed inc the wardrobe but I'm getting there slowly. The strange joy of opening a kitchen cabinet and finding that the mugs are not crowded and balanced precariously on top of each other but have room to breathe....it's very soothing.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hi,
I've not posted on here for ages.
I've managed to declutter a few items from the overcrowded cellar :
-one suitcase
-two frying pans
-one litter tray
-a few dvds
All going to the CS.
Plus some paper and cardboard to recycle.
Hopefully I'll manage some more in the next few days...0 -
Well today I am going to start to clear out my sons room. He has decided to move out and live with one of his sisters. Taken some of his stuff but left a tip behind saying he would come for it later! How long is a piece of string. I have decided to turn his room into a work room for my sewing. This will then allow me to declutter every other room in the house that has fabric and books etc in!
My friend is coming over to "hold my hand" and help me to get going. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I've been away and then spent a day in the garden followed by 2 longs days at work so not a lot of decluttering here however I have found the settee, some stuff put back in rightful places, some recycled and some piled in the office ready to sort eek!
4 full recycling boxes now emptied (council have given us an extra card/paper and an extra plastic one as we recycle so much!) so stuff indoors waiting to be added can go out.
Inlaws aren't arriving until late afternoon on Friday so cleaning will now occur Thursday night/Friday morning - if they come earlier then they'll have to wait!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
