One bag of books out to cs today, the rest will go tomorrow, along with some cds,
  • I'm in for the 'Find 20 things to go this weekend' having lapsed for a month now.

I need a new challenge to revigore myself.

Although the OH did ask if he was able to think of everything in the house as 'ours' again. i think I had him on his toes for a few months as I was a demon before the kitchen rehaul. :)
  • Couple of things I do:

    1. fold the matching bedding into one of the pillow cases so all together when you change the bed. This is great if you use only white/ cream sheets as you can keep the right sizes with the correct bedding.
    2. Always link my bra through the matching knickers so easier to find in the morning.
    3. I try to set my underwear on the same hangers as an outfit (I am crap in a morning) so I can look at what I fancy wearing for the day, and it is all together.
    4. The one place which is organised in my house in my airing cupboard - towels all stacked neatly. (mainly cos the house is on the market!).

I have loads of drawers and cupboards that need sorting though :(

Not an awful lot to report here... in the last week I've added about 25 books to Green Metropolis and sold about 9, which has bumped up my 'camera lens fund' nicely. I cracked open our Terramundi pot and there was £32 inside - I've told my partner he can have half of it if he takes the small coins to a coinstar machine on his way to work (we have an additional £18 in small change bagged up from the last time we opened the pot too). I managed to break the pot very cleanly so rather than buy a new one I've glued it back together for re-filling (cluttering prevention rather than decluttering I guess).

This morning i took the last few books and cds to the charity shop, next declutter spot is under the stairs, which is full off the girls toys, most of it they never bother with.

Must try not to let it get cluttered again. Me excuse is that I have a small business, so stock comes in and then goes out again - eventually :o

Must not let the clutter back into the dining room

My 5 quick things last night/this morning were:
    1. Shredded/recycled paperwork I know I don't need after calls yesterday
    2. Finished cushion and put all my sewing stuff away where it should go.
    3. Bra that is an awful fit into recycling.
    4. Some stationery put back in the office.
    5. Tshirt for charity off the settee and in pile with rest of charity shop bits.

Then out were 2 cheques that came in this week, one mine one guides - both paid in.

And OH put most of his storage boxes back on the top floor where they belong.

Living room is starting to look better again. Home again tonight so will need to try and do 5 more things.

:) I got up at 5 ish this morning and listed 5 things on Freecycle with a message that I'd wait 24 hours before checking for responses. We're a large group and I'm often frustrated that some things get offered and accepted with an hour or two, as I cannot sit on top of my email account, and therefore never get a chance at them.

:) Had 3 people after 1 thing within the hour but hope I have people for all 5 by tomorrow morning.

:) Have found a whole load of paperwork belonging to a closed account so will shred that and free up a few more centimetres in a drawer.

Hope everyone has a productive day....

You're all doing so well and right now I am feeling really down :( I started the desk/office area yesterday but I can't seem to see the end of it. So much stuff that I need but don't know where to put.... What do you do when you don't know where to put something? I thought of putting it in a cardboard box and wait till I finished the whole area before worrying about storage... But is this a good strategy?

I have a headache and I'm cold but don't want to put the heating on :( Yep, I'm feeling like moaning today :o

My new wardrobe is arriving tomorrow - it's a flat-pack so it may be some time until I can actually use it but it will feel so good to be able to put all of our clothes away at last. :)

Got a couple of days off now and will try to catch up on a bit of tidying rather than de-cluttering.

Ellie - don't lose heart you will get there... I was feeling like nothing would ever change a few weeks ago but now things are starting to fall into place.

In answer to your question I put things in boxes or baskets when there's no specific place for them. As time goes on there are less and less things with no specific place where they belong (in theory at least) but having said that there are a couple of baskets which are full of things with no home, and are likely to stay that way indefinitely . Do you think that doing some decluttering of "big stuff" so that you can see a difference more quickly might motivate you? I find paperwork decluttering a very slow process. But wait until you are feeling a bit better - you can't do anything when you're feeling unwell. Good Luck :)
