:) Pleased to report that I've Done It; faced the worst hell hole on the premises. Yesterday, I tied back my hair, rolled up my sleeves, girded my loins and armed myself a sharp stick against Dust Bunny Attack. With my trusty page, Henry the Vacuum, plugged in and ready to go; I attacked.

:) The underbed storage trollies (2) are now full of canned goods bought as a hedge against sudden price inflation and I have gritted my teeth and am taking a mistakenly-purchased sports bag to Oxfam, as they'll charge the most and maximise my mistake for the needy.

:) Have also dismantled a broken-winged umbrella ( I have plans for the fabric part) and the metal ribs will go to the recycling centre.

    Baby steps, baby steps.........

Good luck and keep posting, you're all inspiring me.

  • Have had a few days off the decluttering but

3 boxes of paperwork reduced to 2

Tidied and sorted some of my fabric stash (still can't find what I wanted though!)

Photos taken of various items to go on Work noticeboard.

Pen pen, did you get this emailed to you? I've just popped on there and can't see a mention of it. Not sure though. If I can use it then it'll be grand 'cause I will just shove my stuff on a 7 day listing. Off I pop to have another look around :D

  • The bad news (from a decluttering point of view) is I got 10 bags of car boot stuff from freecycle on Wednesday.
The good news - 3 bags have gone to CS.
3 bags are full of baby/toddler toys so will keep them for a future event - IYKWIM.
    1 bag put in bin.
Rest is condensed, and ready for sale on Ebay - esp as free listing weekend, must get some on (working today until 7pm, and all day yesterday so may be limited!).

For anyone with stuff to sell, it's Free listing on eBay this weekend :j I have a jacket of DS's, so first job today is to wrap, weigh and write the listing :)spacer.gif

I got an email about that this morning, just what I've been waiting for, and I now know what I'll be doing over the weekend, lol! I've got a bid on 1 item I've got listed at the moment, only 99p but every little helps, (and a least it will be out of the house next week), also there's 1 watcher on the item so it may go up a bit hopefully. I've decided to get rid of the leather jacket that my MIL gave me a few years ago, as I don't wear it that much now, so I may photograph that and list it this weekend.

I did, but the e-mail doesn't say that it's just for the Chosen Few IYSWIM :rotfl:

I got the e-mail in the early hours today, so you may get one soon :T

ETA, there's a thread on the Ebay board - best to check there. The posters are really helpful, and will clarify if it's for everyone.

Hi there, I've just spent a bit of time looking around and found this
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/201102091056062.html and it seems that I'm not eligible because I don't meet their sellers minimum standards. I've never had any negative feedback, I got good feedback when I sold items but I've not sold anything since July 2009. So I don't have any DSRs (if that's what they call them!). Most annoying because it is going to lose them money as I will try all other avenues of sale first rather than using ebay for the higher value items. The cheapy stuff I will stick on to try and boost my DSRs but it would seem that you will need to list things on there fairly regularly to be eligible for free listing days.

  • Just thought i would give an update on my challenge so far...

So, my challenge is that by the end of the year - March 2011 (financial yr lol) - i must:
    1. Put our old computer desk which is currently clogging up the dining room on freecycle

    DONE and GONE.
    2. List and sell ALL of the items already put aside for ebay but currently sitting in a black bag in the dining room
DONE and those that didn't sell are in charity/car boot bag.
    3. Stop putting things aside for carboot sale and actually HAVE A STALL AND GET RID. I have 7 bin bags FULL of things for car boot in spare room as well as approx. 10 containers piled wobbly on top of the kitchen cupboard for HM cakes to sell at said car boot.
Ahhh.... well i have sorted through all the bags and a couple of bags full went to charity shop, and we have booked date for local carboot.
    4. Go through all paperwork and shred any papers that can be disposed of. I do not need to keep my bank statements from 15 years ago, or my electricity bills from 5 years ago.
This i haven't done yet - simply because i dont have a shredding facility, but they do have one in work so i may take a bag full there.... can anyone advise on how long we should keep records like this for?
    5. Go through mine and OH wardrobes and donate all clothes that have not been worn in the past year to charity shop.
This i am in the middle of. OH is on a diet though and wont let me throw his trousers out as he says he'll be able to wear them again soon....
    6. Go through DS toys and donate all toys not played with/too young to charity shop.
DONE and i was so impressed with how thoughtful he was.

So, going quite well and on schedule i think!! i am also going to make a huge batch of muffins, HM cinnamon coffee and jam for car boot. Also have quite a few plants to take along - herbs, strawbs, trees, all grown from last yrs cuttings. The house and garden will be so pleased when we've had this car boot stall. :rotfl:

Dont think it matters about whether you've sold anything recently as long as your overall feedback is good. Afterall, they want to encourage ppl to sell.

Have you checked what status it says in your account? Click on the account link in your ebay and scroll down to the seller dashboard

  • Thanks for the reply FelinePrincess. I'm a reformed shopaholic too. Life is far too full of stuff and travelling light makes me feel much better.

Today got rid of 5 books, a game and a wall clock - all to charity.;)
