My house is in need of a massive declutter!!
I have loads to chuck on Ebay, loads to take to the CS and sort out the loft so we can actually use it as a room and not as a junk room!!
I have soo many things i want to do this year with regards to the house/garden etc but i just cannot find the motivation!
Hiya Claire
I had the same problem as you last year - having to empty out the loft to make it into another bedroom. Unfortunately, it was VERY fullso whilst I got rid of loads to the tip, CS and freegle, we still have a lot of it stored in the lounge now!

Does anyone else find decluttering actually creates a heck of a mess????????? I decided to clear out a chest of drawers earlier - and the kitchen table is now covered in stuff!!! Got an hour before the school run to sort it all out, and hoover and sort the washing out!!!
Glad its not just me that makes an absolute mess! The thing that annoys me most, is when I cant find things after I've decluttered
Anyhow, I managed to clear the table before 3pm - and I now have some space in the drawers :T
One carrier bag for the CS -
a scarf I dont like (no idea where it came from!),
aromatherapy room spray that I got as a present and hate!!,
2 packs of birthday balloons age 4 (bought in error - shouldve been 40!!)
unopened pack of neon earrings (unwanted present - they're tacky)
bottle of perfume (smells rank on me!)
Another carrier bag of rubbish - mainly jiffy envelopes!!XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -
Re. not finding after decluttering. My 'old' cleaner used to tidy up for me and I'd spend hours looking for things. She is a hyper-organised type and applied her logic to my stuff, unfortunately I don't think like her. She was forever moving the kitchen fruit bowl into the lounge / dining room. It's in the kitchen so that we can grab a piece of fruit for breakfast. I carefully moved it back and explained this... and every week it migrated back to the lounge.
The new cleaner starts on Tuesday....Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Do you live at my house? I might not have noticed with all the clutter.. :rotfl:
We converted our loft in the autumn, just finishing now. Our dining room is full of boxes of stuff. I have also decluttered loads, but still more to do. Feeling overwhelmed by it at the minute!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

That post of mine made me sound a bit callous - the original cleaner quit. She asked me to tidy up each week prior to her cleaning and to save hassle I agreed but I'm disabled and it really took it out of me. Then last Monday she came round unannounced, having failed to turn up at the agreed time on Friday. The lounge was untidy and she threw her keys down and walked out, having told me that no cleaner would agree to clean my house and she wasn't going to.
As I said, the new cleaner starts Tuesday. She is lovely and I'm just coming round to realising I was being bullied. :mad:Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would like to join too, so far this week I have cleared a big bag of clothes to the charity shop and this morning have half filled my recycling bin (my dd goes through paper and boxes etc at a ridiculous rate cutting and sticking and colouring and I really can't keep every creation!) and also a pile of newspapers & mags in the bathroom (grrr if u can take them up their u can bring them down too...men!)
I have just put a few bits on free cycle so hoping that clears today and will be listing some eBay bits tonight
Oh and I'm about to send dd off to a friends for the afternoon, does that count as decluttering0 -
Just listed a tv (been in the garage for 2 years), a vacuum cleaner and a toaster on Freegle. Now planning to take some pics of my old engagement ring to list on eBay - investigated the "sell your gold" route, which will be fine for the wedding ring, but couldn't find anyone who would take the value of the diamonds into account and was advised to sell the ring. Money from those is going into my "save for a puppy" account"0

Good grief I've missed so much! I've been ill for what feels like forever, and apart from general recycling of unwanted post and food packaging etc I've done NO decluttering at all. Still feeling very rubbishy (and it's my birthday today too
). I really can't wait to declutter this viral infection and nasty cough so I can do more than 5 minutes before feeling breathless. Good to hear all the decluttering updates and hopefully will get back on track soon
Edit - Just realised it's free listing weekend on ebay - looks like I can justify sitting on my bum for much of the weekend lolExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Cue another trip to the tip tomorrow. Might go to Frankie and Bennys for breakfast (2 for £10 inc tea and coffee- plus I have a £5 off voucher!) afterwards to reward us for all the hard work this week. Will then spend the rest of the weekend cleaning all the mess that we've made this week.
Thanks to everyone for giving me the motivation!!
Once again, thanks for all your inspiration!
