they might not know about recent postings on here.isaw it on there forum a while ago.

They will know about this, all they seem to do it sit on the internet removing bad press about their compnay. They dont have any stock to send out to people who order from their website so they have to keep the staff busy I guess :rotfl:

They have threatened The Home Brew Forum with legal action if postings complaining about their cr*ppy service are not removed.
THBF and jimsbeerkit forum were both threatened with legal action by OHBCo in their previous incarnation as BIY. Before reading this topic we were unaware that BIY had been forced into liquidation and re-emerged as OHBCo.

However, this does not mean that we have been content to sit on our backsides and watch this all going on, forum Administrators have been in contact with Trustpilot when it came to light that their review procedure may have been abused.

As advised by a prior post, I did contact Sagepay who really were not at all helpful.
I did however contact Ritchie Products (01283 564161) who really could not be more supportive & helpful.
I was assured that someone in the company was currently looking into it and yes, my order (Solomon Grundy wine kits) were supplied to the OHBC by themselves.
They took my details and promised to follow it up & get back to me in due course...
They will of course be concerned about the way the OHBC's affiliation with them could be muddying their reputation too...
I urge everyone affected to contact them ASAP.
I suspect they will contact the OHBC with individual complainant cases, and this probably offers the best chance for people to actually gain either a speedy reimbursement (or delivery of their goods). The OHBC will not want to alienate their largest supplier & should (if they have any sense) prioritise people flagged up to them by Ritchie Products.
I hope this advice is some help (& thanks for the previous posters heads-up as concerns this possible route).
  • In reply to post 230 - Hello my name is Bradley from Balliihoo Homebrew - PLEASE BE ASSURED THAT WE ARE A TOTALLY INDEPENDENT COMPANY AND HAVE NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER WITH "The Online Home brew company" or " The On-line Shopping Company" We never have and never will be associated with them in any way... So PLEASE PLEASE Do not mistake us for or associate us with this company.
  • Well, last night I spotted an email in my inbox from trustpilot. It stated that I would have to provide them with my order details or my post would be removed. Fine I thought and was just about to send it to them and thought I had better check something first.

So I asked Trustpilot if this information would be sent to TOHC, as I am expecting a refund and really do not want to identify myself to them. Trustpilot repied by saying that the had to send my order details to OHBC. Well, it is a good job I asked don't you think? I would never have known that trustpilot were going to identify me to TOHC if I had not said anything.

First this is Trustpilot replying to my question on where this information was going...
I have to provide them with your order number.
The information they have on you from when you made your order, will then be accessible to the company.

My reply to trustpilot regarding the fact they never informed me (I wasn't happy at the time).
Please can I have the email address of your data controller. I wish to confirm with him/her that they are allowed to collect information to pass on to a third party without notifying the person that they are collecting data from that this is his/her intention.

I understand why you need to confirm these orders, to see that they are genuine. But surely you should inform the posters of these complaints before you pass them on.

Your message to me was that "my post" would be removed if I did not send "you" confirmation of my order. You did not in anyway state that you were going to forward it to this shambolic company.

Please inform the data controller of this immediately and do not pass anyone else's information to this company until this has been clarified. You may well be breaking the data protection act here by passing on this information without the responders knowing what you are doing with it. You have been warned, inform the responders now and ask them for permission before passing anymore information on to them that you have collected for them on these posters.

personaly I think this sort of behaviour is really bad. If they need to send the details to TOHC then they should inform the person they are asking that they intend to forward the info.

What has supprised me is the reply I have got back just...

We do not pass any information to the company without your accept.

What you have met is one of the options available to our customers; they can set up a "filter" to make sure that only genuine customers can write a review. No information is passed on to third parties.

    ?

I keep looking for where in that reply it gives me the address of the data controller. All I can see is dribble that looks like it is written by a 12 yr old.

PS: I have just sent the following email to You & Yours (apparently a popular daily Radio 4 consumer affairs programme):

"Please check this burgeoning thread on Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert forum Re; "The Online Homebrew Company":
    (link provided)
Many buyers are not receiving goods paid for in advance of delivery, the company have no phoneline for customers, emails are ignored and they are currently suspected of manipulating TrustPilots online review system (TP are investigating this).
This company have had other (dissolved) incarnations & have similar subsiduaries with a similar (veiled) reputation.
Should this not be for your programme, please feel free to pass the opportunity on to other interested consumer affair media.
    Thankyou."

I'm not hopeful that it is big enough for them, but who knows... I'll post any developments...
  • Balliihoo, I will personally make a point of ordering from your company in the very near future. A promt clarification if ever I saw one. If your orders are as fast we will have many happy transactions together.

Lets not start taring other people with this brush guys. There are some good online homebrew companies out there that try to keep there customers happy.
  • i emailed amazon to ask why i should buy through them when i could go direct to tohc website and pay less money for stuff.one item was £10 more expensive on amazon than on there website!!!
