many, many thanks for your reply. Sending the letter requesting the repayment today. My loan, i am thankful to say is up to date and always paid on time...though i will probably use the money [if and when i receive it] to pay as much off the loan as i can...
THANKS AGAIN...0 -
Just starting to reclaim my charges from HSBC - but got a joint account too and my girlfriend has an account, plus we have a loan. I am only trying to reclaim from my own account. Will this be likely to have all the accounts closed? what has people's experience been with HSBC?0

If all the other accounts are in order, they shouldn't touch them.0 -
It is not acceptable for a bank to close your account just because you have claimed back fees - the ombudsman recently made A&L pay someone compensation as a result. However if you continue to make payments for which there are insufficient funds then this may well be a good reason to close the account down.
Most loans and credit cards are regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974. These can usually only be recalled in full if you have defaulted. Overdrafts though also regulated usually have a clause saying they are repayable on demand or need renewing by a certain date. The question is, would your bank be that nasty? I'd suggest the answer is 'yes they would'.0 -

paul u r wrong a bank whether u like it or not is a business and they can choose not to do business with u if they like that is y the first step in claiming bank charges is to OPEN A NEW BANK ACCOUNT ELSWHERE.0

Shirl the majority of banks will not close your account however some do this the NATIONWIDE being the worst culprit. Not heard many people sayin that the Halifax have closed there account so u probably be ok dont worry about it the worst that can happen is they close your account and u start usin a new account, and if u keep that account in order for six months im sure u will be able to upgrade your account so u can be issued with a debit card goodluck!0

As indicated, it's usually wise to open a so called "parachute" account with another bank prior to starting proceedings.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
help!! i know it was silly of me but when i started to reclaim my bank charges i didnt set up a new bank accout. I have successfully claimed but now my bank the NATIONWIDE have told me they are going to close my account. If anybody could offer any advice on what i could write to the bank to ask them to re-consider this i would be grateful. Have already tried to open another account and been refused. Dont want to keep trying as i am trying to better my credit rating. Thanks.0
