I wish my credit card company can offer some great deals, (verry unlikely)!!!!0
-
made an online application for the Play.com credit card 10 days ago. I had no response so gave them a ring today. Eventually got through to someone who said they'd look at my application and give me a decision after they did a credit search. 10 minutes after being on hold they said they're refused to accept me because I had an overdraft which I have not paid anything back for a few months (it's an interest free £1500 graduate student overdraft which I put entirely in savings). I told them I have a perfect credit score (I check it every 6 months) and over 20 grand in savings (which they obviously won't know about) and asked them if they would accept me if I paid my overdraft off in full today. They said no and that I would have to re-apply in 30 days as it wouldn't show on the system straight away. They assured me that my credit score was not adversely affected and that by not accepting me, they simply left a credit "search" on my file. Is this true?
It’s funny how MBNA don’t consider me a good customer whereas Barclaycard will bend over backwards to keep me as a customer when I threaten to leave them (by offering me free money, promotional cashback or upgrading my account).0 -

could anyone help me decide which cc I should get please? It'll be my first one and I have been advised to get one after being hacked into online, so it would most likely only be used for online purchases(unless it was in my intest to use it all the time) and it would always be paid off straight away. I have been looking at the Lloyds TSB one(s) and the BMI one(s) but are rather confused what air miles are and which would be the best.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.0 -
I also have a few good credit card, I personally like to use credit cards, convenient.0

Hi
Are there any credit cards which give extended warranty on purchases. I know barclays used to do that earlier.0 -
A word of warning for BMI's MasterCard:
I've had one now for about four years and the service that MBNA give (they run the card service) is first-class and cannot be faulted. HOWEVER, try spending your bmi miles and I’ve found so far it's proving to be impossible. I have over 160,000 miles that I'm trying to use, and on every single occasion of me trying to book reward flights with (a) bmi or (b) partner airlines, I find that they NEVER have any availability. Couple with that the fact that they can only search for available reward flights on a day-by-day basis and it becomes very impractical – their system does not allow them to be able to search for next available reward flights. I once spent over an hour on the phone to them and still couldn’t find any flights. I also have to say that their diamond club staff can be curt, verging on rude at times.
I intend to use-up my miles (somehow), and then cancel my diamond club membership. I also have an AMEX Virgin black card which is far better, and Virgin’s flying club is easier to use, and the miles are easier to spend!
I hope this helps0 -
There are several reasons why you should choose prepaid debit card and here are some of those.
Firstly, it limits your fraud exposure – nowadays identity theft as well as fraud is on the rise, which resulted from stolen credit card numbers, where a thief will surely use your credit card number for their transactions and they will surely put you on debt with thousands of dollars. In prepaid debit card, your exposure is less for the reason that the amount that is available on your account is limited. Secondly, it will help you build or rebuild your credit – some of these cards have credit card building features which, means your credit card will report your payment to three major credit agency. Not to mention that this thread is specifically about credit cards which provide special offers, like cashback, points or additional goods and services.
While your first benefit is a valid one, your second reason doesn't apply to anyone who already has a good credit rating, so such a global sweeping statement is incorrect. You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -
