wot abt amex ?0
-
See the post above yours. Amex doesn't really fit under the "freebies" banner because they don't give freebies, however they do give cashback.
Do a search for amex and you'll find a lot of dedicated threads. You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -
I was looking at bringing one of my old credit cards back to life recently, but the offers available on an Egg card are pretty weak for non-drivers like me. Why is no one even trying to compete with the Amex deal?!0

If you apply for an Amex Platinum card online via Quidco you can get £34 cashback at the moment.
I've just done this and the £34 has gone into my Quidco account within a week. There are other good cashback deals for different Amex cards - up to £50.0 -
Right guys, currently with egg money atm with their cashback, would it be worth me switching cards after the feb payment date?
I mean, like above says I could get a possible £34 quid for Amex Platinum online, and 5% for the first 3 months...
After that I would only get 0.5%, so figureing this out, if i say say reduced spending to 4k this year on card, i would earn £50 from the 5%, and then 17.5 from the remaining 3, so thats better then egg at 1%Pa, albeit i could switch back to egg after the 3 months rather than the lower 0.5%...
Gonna look around other sites for cashback etc(albeit i know its not garaunteed), but what do you guys reckon?0 -
Does anyone know any way to get an egg money account nowadays? i understand they are "closed for new accounts" .... would it help if I am an existing credit card holder ?? Anyone got any ideas please?0

i'm guesing but maybe the catch is that you don't always repay in full every month and therefore over the course of the year give Leeds loads of free money in interest payments, which probably amount to way more than £10.:think:0 -
Regarding the shell offer:
"Cash Back based on a minimum Shell pump price of £1.00 per litre"
&
"Your earned Shell Cash Back on all spend as shown on your statement will only be redeemable against the value of future Shell fuel purchases in Great Britain."
So at the moment its only for diesel. Even then the 6p/3p cashback is only when you buy more fuel, not actual cash.
I have one of these cards and am saving a fortune in fuel! I think the £1.00 per litre dates back to the days when petrol was at silly prices. I'm still getting cashback (although only for further petrol purchases from Shell!) despite the drop below £1. Luckily, Shell are by far the cheapest garages near where I live, and the cheapest of all is on the route into work (though I normally take the bus!). So actually this card was ideal for me, might not be for many others.0 -

I dont pay it off every month as it is a fixed life of balance card of 5.9% and no transactions have ever been put on it except the opening BT,so they do get more than a tenner a year from me but when you compare the apr to what others ask for,its worth keepingI have a deep burning indifference0
