I got the Play.com credit card (run by MBNA) a couple of months ago after it was in Martin's weekly email. I quickly spent the required amount to earn a bonus 1500 'PlayPoints' which I redeemed for a £15 Play.com voucher. However it never arrived, I skim through mu junk email folder quite carefully so I'm pretty sure it didn't go in there. When I phone up Play or MBNA they just pass me from one to the other, both saying that Play Points are nothing to do with them! Apparently my Order I.D. for the voucher is not a normal Play.com order I.D. so they refuse to investigate.
Has anyone else had this problem? What should I do?
I know its not 'real' money but I feel like they owe me £15, plus I am spending lots on the card as its 0% for a while, so I will have more points I'd like to convert to vouchers, if its not all a scam.0 -

The points are a complete con. They only say certain flights are available for points. You have to keep quoting a date and flight and asking if its available, when I ask them to tell me a date that is, they just ask me to keep quoting dates and they can only check this way. I tried this numerous times and was going to give up.
My friends were booking flights for a hen do this year and with charges etc, it was £130 per person. I called and was shocked for them to say they were available but was then informed that the points do not include the taxes which they then quote a ridiculous rate - totally different to what is advertised for their normal fairs.
I then asked about exactly the same flight and was told my fair would be £200 as it was free but this was the taxes. The call centre staff were very unhelpful when I asked how on earth it could be more than just booking on their site and why the taxes differed, she told me she was in charge and refused to put me through to anyone else, this was an indian call centre and communication was poor
I have spent a fortune with this company over the years and certainly would not recommend their cards to anyone,0 -
I'm not one for defending banks or corporate companies, but I managed to get 2 return tickets from LHR to Belfast City with my BMI miles and only paid £30 each, which is very cheap in my opinion. It was cheaper than easyjet and those airports are more convenient to me than Stansted. The bottom line is that you get 20000 miles for joining, you use the miles, preferably by booking with over a month's notice and you can ditch the card. In my experience they were well worth the little effort and I saved a few quid.Hi Lisamalone. I agree. I wrote to MSE that this was actually abuse a while ago but haven't received a reply and are they are still reccommending them. On the BMI Diamond Club website they say we can book using airmiles online (I was interested, because of absurd telephone booking attempts), but I challenged them to show me where the dialogue was - they are liars (they go to great lengths to list what you can get using airmiles and tell you by email that there is a dialogue for booking but there is no such thing). So, yes, you are left with someone mumbling to you on the phone from a Mumbai laptop, who can only give you the options "OK in 2 months?", "OK in Business class?" (pricey) and, yes, a tax fee far higher than their normal tax fee. If I don't get a joy from MSE, I'll be contacting the Financial Ombudsman myself. I'm surprised nobody else has commented on this scam.0
