  • Hi

I've just applied for the above card. I did the same offer about 6 months ago in my husbands name and had no problems. We spent £100 for 3 months and got the vouchers. This time, i applied for the card in my name and got an email on 21st Oct saying the card would be sent in 5 days time. Bearing in mind we then had to activate the card and get the PIN sent. Also this was while the postal strike was on. We got to work spending the £100 (which we have done so by 9th November). Today i have got the statement with a measly debit of £36. The statement has been dated 5th Nov! Have we lost out on the voucher offer ? We've only had the card a few weeks.

    Regards Jacs
  • It's atough call to make, because the criteria of whether or not you qualify is completely cack handed and arbitrary.

For example on paper I qualified. I hit the 100 plus mark on the first 3 statements, and then when I called up to enquire, and spoke to the manager. The manger told me that they hadn't started the first month until the 1st after I'd got the card or something like that , and as such I was short on the final month.

It sounded like he'd pulled this excuse out of his !!!!, because he could offer me nothing in the terms and conditions to support it and wouldn't relent.

You have to threaten to cancel the card after not getting your vouchers, and the retention team will honour it.

I got 40 pounds applied as a credit to the card. Used it and then cancelled

I had a Play card with £3000 limit. When the Virgin card with no-fee transfer came up, I signed up for that and promptly got a phone call from MBNA - they agreed to give me the card, but split the credit limit between the two cards.

Same happened to me after I was accepted for Amazon card and then applied for Play.com card.

Is this the same card that's 20% over it's limit? Sounds like it's been blocked. Phone the company and ask them.

I am thinking of going for the Goldfish credit card. OK - mostly for a freebie.

Now, the question is could I cancel after say 4/5 months and would this affect my credit rating at all? So far, I have been lucky and not been in debt (as regards to credit cards). Mostly paid up every month.

    Thanks.

    Robie.
