If you have ordered it on line I would seriously consider cancelling you order. You are quite within your rights to do this under distance selling regs.

To start with it contains the Posturepedic spring system which is the same as the Miracoil system. It is a continuous spring system that most manufacturers used to use, but stopped due to it being so noisey and unreliable. Most of the complaints you see about Silentnight mattresses are actually due to this spring system.

The mattress is also non turn, which will shorten the life of the springs even more.

As for the latex. If it is anything like most of their products then it is a 1" layer of Innergetic Latex (a blend, and not 100% natural latex), and only covers part of the surface of the mattress.

Even at Tescos price, this mattress is way over priced for it's specifications.

Just to clear things up, the Posturepedic spring is NOT the same as miracoil. Although both work on the same principle, modern posturepedics use higher quality steel, have better perimeter frames and contain the new Sealy Posturetech 620 spring which means the spring count is higher than a standard Miracoil.

Hi Guys, been doing some reading and it is all very confusing.

We move house in a two weeks (unfurnished rental) and it is going to be our first try and buying a bed, but it needs to be quick or we will have nowhere to sleep!! (Don't ask, the snow messing up our holiday flights didn't help our planning!!)

One of the reasons for going with that company is that they are near to where we are moving so I can go in and talk to them and try and get delivery organised with our moving day.

    Cheers

Sleepeezee are one of the better big brands in the UK.

They are still continuous coil springs units (the same as Miracoil are), which are the most unreliable spring system on the market. Many manufacturers used to use them, but have stopped due to unreliability and noise problems. And there are still loads of reports about problems with the Posturetech sprung mattresses. Just because they have a different name doesn't mean that they are any better. After all they are still made by the Silentnight group.

That's a matter of opinion. I'd say they come out at about middle of the range of the big brands, which to be honest isn't saying much at all.
  • I'd simply say whatever you buy try it out in person first - buying online can save you money but can also be a huge mistake if you don't like what you've bought. Make sure you can try it out first.

I'm sorry, Tim, but you are very much mistaken. Whilst the Miracoil spring is a mass market product that is of a relatively poor construction, the PostureTech spring unit is a far higher spec which ultimately allows the Sealy mattress to do what the Miracoil should do but without any concerns about quality. I understand you don't sell these products so I wouldn't expect you to be complimentary about either.

If they were far better construction, they why do they still keep failing???

It's nothing to do with what I sell. I would never sell any product made by any member of the SN group, because of their extremely low quality and reliability.

By the way, what is the truth about you, are you an ex employee, or a customer with a gripe?

Hi there. Really wanted to post on here to see if anyone else has had problems with Cannock Beds? They seem to be a company limited to Scotland in terms of stores but are also linked to a couple of the big bed websites. I am currently enduring what has now become a 14 week dispute with them and am almost at the end of my rope!

Any advice or other horror stories?

Hi there, I am an ex Cannock Beds employee and I desperately urge you NOT to buy the Ultimate 2400. It is imported from China and is an AWFUL mattress. It does not have memory foam or latex in the top of it, it's just some superbond and the mini springs in the top layer are of an extremely low quality! My advice would be to go with the Sanctuary matt if that's the kind of thing you want, but please steer well clear of the Ultimate.

P.S. Cannock Beds buy that mattress in bulk containers from China and their cost price is less than £100!

I'm actually starting to think that you are an ex employee for a good reason. That you don't really know much about the products you sell, and that you will try and get the public to buy any rubbish, and don't care how you con them into doing so.

Consumers don't walk around with their eyes closed, you know! If someone is stupid enough to pay full price for something when it is clearly being price established then they deserve all they get. Of course the big companies use loads of different techniques to drive people through the doors, but at the end of the day if they don't like what they see when they get into the shop there is nothing to stop them walking straight back out again!

People go into a shop thinking that they are being told the truth, and not conned into thinking that they are getting a good deal when they are really being ripped off.

My last bed was a Sealy, my DD has it now.

Its a far better bed than a Silentnight miracoil I bought before it, that was dreadful.

Sealy used to make good mattresses a few years ago. In fact so did Silentnight once upon a time.
