Any reviews or thoughts on these mattresses

Mattress buying is a total nightmare. I've been looking for an age for a pocket sprung mattress but keep dithering. I don't want memory foam as I slept on a memory foam mattress for a few weeks and woke in agony every morning, I know it was probably a duff mattress but it's put me right off. Also, I have no heating in my bedroom so a mattress I can use an electric blanket with is a MUST, obviously a no go with memory foam.
Problem I have is I need to buy from Argos as I have vouchers, but reading the multiple mattress threads has put me off. I've spent hours trawling the pocket spring mattresses on offer there and all I've done is confuse myself.Sigless0 -
Rev, Argos are not to bad but it don't mean they do top quality.
The problem with argos is, you can't try out the mattresses but if you have a homestore&more, or a homebase, they do have beds in the shops to try.
Argos are ok with returns but if you want to try the mattress, you have to leave the plastic cover on, or they won't take it back. They class it as used. Your statutory rights are not affected.Say No to smart meters!

My mattress is from hypnia and I checked the website. It says the memory foam is, 75kg density and from what you said, it's to high.

Anyway i am starting to move away from memory foam now, for many reasons. I am going for latex now and maybe that gel mattress in future.
Thanks.
Actually the post of mine that you quoted has out of date information. The optimum recommended is 60 to 70kg. It is now thought that 55kg is a little too low. However 75kg will still have a slow recovery rate making it difficult to change position.
Threason for your mattress being too firm is more likely to be due to the reflex foam layer being too firm though.0 -
Will have my new mattress next week, so will probably post back in a few months about it.
Can't really say with just one or two nights on it.
I know it's a sealy and the bad reviews about them but must try for myself. It's not like I spent £800 on a mattress. Lol
The only problem online is, you can't try out the bed.
Have you actually ordered it?
You can't try before you buy on line, but trying a mattress out in a shop for 10 mins fully clothed will only give you a rough idea, and won't tell you what it is like to sleep on for a few nights.0 -

Actually Argos only sell low quality mattresses.0 -

Have you looked at KozzeeSleep products (http://www.kozeesleep.co.uk) They have good reviews on this site and you can find them at a good price if you shop around (loads of sellers). There are two bed manufacturers with the same name and sometimes the same product names, so be mindful. The one I bought for my mum could easily have been bought from Dreams for at least double the price. It was so much bed for the money. I was amazed at the quality.0 -

Well thanks for being honest about it.
Btw I am not sure my mattress has reflex foam. I am sure it said something like, high density foam as the base.Say No to smart meters!

Yes tim. I ordered it about 4 days after christmas. This is what I bought http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.205-5743.aspx and it only cost £277, reduced from £370. Only I had a price match in homestore for the same mattress.
I understand what you are saying about 10 minutes on a bed but it's better than nothing and does give you some idea.
Before I picked that mattress I was set on buying a sealy Summer Solstice, with a pillow top. Picture here http://www.mynextmattress.co.uk/catalogue/images/sealy-solstice.jpg
So I went round all the shops I said about before and tried the equivalent, or basically the same mattress. I am glad i did because, it saved me around £400. The pillow top was uncomfortable and aggravating my back. Even what you said about pillow tops, i would agree with. So it is better to try a bed, even if it's for only ten minutes. I also see so many bad reiviews about the sealy pillow top, that it confirmed my thoughts on it. Here http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews13622.html
The only place to allow you to try a bed and then change it is, dreams but that's not all cracked up to what it's meant to be.
I have not spent a lot of money on it, so not to worried if it don't work out. But you never know.
If i had known about some other beds that I have seen online, i may well of gone for this. http://lasseysbedsdirect.co.uk/shop/divan-beds/la-romantica/la-romantica-florence-divan-bed.htmlSay No to smart meters!

If you have ordered it on line I would seriously consider cancelling you order. You are quite within your rights to do this under distance selling regs.
To start with it contains the Posturepedic spring system which is the same as the Miracoil system. It is a continuous spring system that most manufacturers used to use, but stopped due to it being so noisey and unreliable. Most of the complaints you see about Silentnight mattresses are actually due to this spring system.
The mattress is also non turn, which will shorten the life of the springs even more.
As for the latex. If it is anything like most of their products then it is a 1" layer of Innergetic Latex (a blend, and not 100% natural latex), and only covers part of the surface of the mattress.
Even at Tescos price, this mattress is way over priced for it's specifications.0
