Btw about keymead gel beds.
gel-beds.blogspot.com kaymed-gel-bed-first-proper.
Use google as i can't post links.
Ah just googled this and it is a bed blog, such a good idea, there really needs to be more. Excellent - thanks for posting this!:T
Very briefly I noted the below first para on the blog which is much as per Rdel's earlier review, so I guess when I do buy my mattress it is something to be aware of.
"For anyone contemplating buying a new bed you clearly need to be aware that, for many people, there is a time lag between starting to use a gel, visco elastic memory foam or latex foam mattress, and becoming accustomed to its unique characteristics. For me this took longer than I would have expected, but I now feel very happy with this composite spring, visco elastic and gel hybrid."
"One problem that this does highlight is that once you start sleeping on a “body contouring” bed it becomes very difficult to sleep on a regular or cheaper bed. This is obviously a problem, particularly on holidays or when staying with friends."0 -
After posting last night I sneakily took off the waterproof mattress protector and just left on the normal one without telling the boss and I did notice a difference. I notice my feet get quite sweaty at night but last night they felt very cool and was much more comfortable. I know that is just one night but the climasmart stuff is looking good so far.
I actually laughed out loud when I read about dreams offering you both a drink. When I decided in theory what bed I wanted I went into dreams to get a feel of a similar spec bed (and also to see how much they were charging for it) before ordering and the salesman also offered me a coffee! Must be a dreams thing to make you more comfortable and lower your guard.
.....in saying that we could all be being very cynical and they're just being nice......nah! lol poor guys can't win.I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain amount of things, at this rate I may never die!0 -
Sigh, I'm still reading about mattresses. Seen this site factory-beds-direct.co.uk. (include all the dashes) It is really detailed and informative - videos, recommendations the lot.
To be fair to Tim it states very much what he has been saying (sometimes amidst the virtual fisticuffs) for the last 3+ years, only difference is it is all in one place (so cheers Tim). Also they are very good at actually recommending mattresses, with reasons/videos as to why as well as prices. I do recognise Tim's hands are tied perhaps to the bedpost on this issue.:p If nothing else, that site will consolidate my thirst for information. Thanks to Walkon also as I came accross this when googling the blog you posted, and I kind of hijacked your thread - sorry.
Armed with everything I know my New Year's resolution shall be to order a mattress by 3rd January at the latest, then I can finally move onto steam generators!:eek:0 -

The protector is John lewis "100% cotton with a breathable, polyurethane backing and are zipped to fully enclose the mattress and reduce allergens." Hopefully this will not suffocate the mattress
That one should be fine. I think it is the same one that I have.0 -

Not really. I sleep on loads of different beds, and unless they are poor quality or worn out I don't have a problem. Although I do love coming home to my pocket sprung and memory foam one.0 -

It was probably more to do with the fact that you only had one mattress protector, rather than the fact that you didn't have a waterproof one.
If your waterproof protector is a breathable one, then your mattress should work fine with just that one on.0 -

There is some very good information on that site (in fact some seems to be taken almost word for word from things I have said on MSE). However there are some things that should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Don't forget there is a VAT increase at the start of January.0 -

LOL have the Phillips GC6(dunno) was a Which top 3 at the time as per this site! Two years later it is leaking from the base, don't know where. I was thinking of getting another Phillips, but the leak has put me right off. Looking at Bosch.
Tim is there such a thing as memory foam encapulated springs and if so are they any better than the reflex foam ones? Also does memory foam break down after five years?0 -
Dark_Glasses wrote: »I've not heard of Paul Simon, will look them up. There are not many independent bed sellers by me to get advice from, and the ones that do exist sell old tat (four drawer doubles that cost £199). I would like to have a good old natter about my mattress, I find that when I start talking more and more queries come out, as per retail park visit, and they were hard pushed to answer them.
.
Dark Glasses. Without being seen to promote paul simon they are known for nets and Curtains but they now do beds to.
Here. paulsimon.co.uk
In my store they started selling beds after sleep department went into administration. Paul simon won't give you any reductions on the prices they charge, as I found out. So expect to pay the asking price if you do.

I found this website that has reviews on many bed manufacturers, even some I don't know. Not sure if they are unbiased though

Some quotes.Bottom Line
Dorlux Mattress Company has really outdone itself when it comes to making beddings suited for individual needs. It is definitely worth buying and every cent you are going to pay for it is worth it.
I’d give this a 4 out of 5. Comfort, durability and affordability is promised and delivered by their products.Tempurpedic Mattresses is still one of the best there is in the mattress market. You are assured of its quality and efficacy. The comfort and support it provides are remarkable.
I have to give this a 4.5 rating out of 5. This is perfect for everyone to use and perfect for our everyday sleeping needs.
