  • I have recently ordered and received my glasses from goggles4u.com .The cost of the semi-rimless frame and the ultra thin lenses ( 1.67 ) was around £28 , all inclusive . They arrived within two weeks , although they arrived a few days earlier to a neighbours' because they had addressed it incorrectly . An excellent pair of glasses , which I would recommend to others , plus there was a cashback of 3% with topcashback.co.uk .:j

I have ordered and recieved three pairs of reading glasses, one of them tinted for sunglasses and never paid more the £12.50 and they really are excellent.

I just had my pupils measured by specsavers and he wrote the measurement down infront of me! If someone was to charge me £25 for holding a machine infront of my face and pressing a button I would make a huge fuss in the shop!!!
Are you for real? Do you realise how many years of training opticians have to go through? Or how much the equipment costs? I think £25 is more than reasonable to be honest. It's less than any good dentist would cost, and they generally take more time too.

With regards to ordering online, I'm very tempted. I managed to unintentionally get a ladfy from Boots to pretty much knock half the price off two pairs of glasses (I didn't want to spend £280 - ended up getting them for £150 or so due to indecisiveness) but I'm due another eye test tomorrow, so potentially two new pairs of lenses, both of which will no doubt cost an absolute fortune.

What are people's experiences generally like with regards to the lense quality when compared with high street opticians? I'd also be a bit worried that I'd buy some glasses that look nice on the site but actually pretty awful when I try them on - is it easy enough to return them etc?

    Cheers

    Hi all,

had a long read through this thread, but a question for you all:

I have a strong prescription, and obviously want thinner lenses..

Where's the cheapest place to get glasses with thin lenses?

    Thanks in advance
  • Hi
I recommend http://www.specsuperstore.com for cheap designer glasses and designer sunglasses. After looking online for several hours at the many different websites out there that supply designer glasses, i found SpecSuperstore.com to be the best by far for prices!

I ordered some RayBans from their site, and within 5 days they were delivered direct to my door.

    Completely satisfied with their services.

    Hi Drucey!

I can't believe that nobody has given you a response!

What I can say is that if you have a high prescription, then some of the online sites may not be able to accommodate your prescription. However, that doesn't automatically mean that you can't buy online - all it means is that you may have to send in an order on a piece of paper instead of over the internet! Or submit it over the 'phone.

Here at Fashion Specs Direct, we do indeed consider prescriptions that exceed the limits on our website - just give us a call to talk it through first!

One thing to be aware of, though, is that if your prescription is classed as 'complex' (prescribed complex or powerful glasses with at least one lens which has a power in any one meridian of plus or minus 10 or more dioptres or is a prism-controlled bifocal lens)
, it is actually illegal for an online provider to dispense prescription glasses to you. Bear this in mind - there are plenty of unscrupulous operators out there!

On the subject of thinnner lenses, the world is your oyster and limited mainly by the size of your wallet!
Fashion Specs Direct charges only £40 for 1.67 Ultrathin Lenses.

I recommend buying your frames online and getting them glazed by www.ciliaryblue.co.uk. They do all types of lenses and I am sure the ultra thin ones that you want. I, along with many other Moneysavers are very happy with their prices and service.

  • This thread seems to feature lots of first (and only) posts saying how great certain sites are, a bit fishy if you ask me.

My local Boots has a small selection of Sunglasses at half price at the moment. I always expect the high street to be so expensive (usually use glassesdirect) so I thought the price tags were the reduced prices, not so! The big names may be overpriced but there are offers to be had.

  • I think D&A have a free eye test going on at the moment.
Just hope you can find your way to their front door :D
If it's not a bargain, it's not worth buying :D
