I bought my glasses at Fashion Specs Direct - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=29444&page=19.

They do sunglasses and transitions, too, I think.

I'm in the market for another pair of glasses and so I had a look at http://www.fashionspecsdirect.co.uk but they don't have anyway to upload your photo and try them on. And I like to be able to see how I look in them before I buy them. Have a look nuglasses nuYou page at http://www.nuglasses.co.uk/nuyou.asp

Has anyone ordered varifocals online because some online dispensers say they are complex and measurements need to be taken and some say just enter the prescription and they will sort it out.

    Any feedback will be appreciated.

I'd heard of this - but it looks right fiddleyand I would imagine you can hit a problem with the perspective of the uploaded picture being out of sync with the dimensions of the glasses.

As I've mentioned earlier, I would select a site to buy from based on recommendation, proven customer care and reputation. And price comes into it too, of course - that's the wole point of buying online, after all. Fashion Specs Direct prices started at £9.95!

Just had a look at the nuglass site. Their prices START at £15! And parts of their site are 'under construction'! Hmmm. You pays your money . . .

Varifocals have a narrow corridor of intermediate and reading.
If they are not fitted properly the the distance will probably be OK but they will not perform well in other areas.

    FIFTEEN POUNDS!
What is the world coming to.

Seriously, I would like to point out that some of the sites selling glasses online for around a tenner pay as little as £1 for their frames.

So yes, you pays yer money!

Materials are often a minor part of the the total costs of any business, labour usually is a far more important component as is premises.

you will also find the high street chains pay in the region of a pound and under for their frames and even less for lenses, perhaps your costs are too high rather than theirs too low ;)

Hi there, I know how much frames and lenses cost.
The cost of basic lenses is negligable, they are much of a muchness and very cheap.

Decent unbranded frames cost between £3 and £10.

Frames for £1 are invariably crud.

I would be interested to see what the delighted customers have to say 6 months down the line whan the nosepads have fallen off and the colour has faded from their purchase.

Seriously, spend a little more and get something worth the money rather than a throwaway product.
